I always love reading about this kind of shiat.

A blind veteran was forced to defend himself after being attacked in broad daylight

Well duh.  It would be stupidity to attack a blind person in total darkness.

I surprised no one called for an amberlance.

I saw an awesome fight scene with Jet Li once where the two fighters put on blindfolds so that neither would have an advantage with wind/dust.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn13ts-rWiw  Blindfolds at about 2:27.

The moral of the story is you don't attack a dude who's power level is over 9000.

There really is no adequate (legal) punishment for this idiot.

The attacker must be a huge Lethal Weapon fan. I'll make you see before you see god? WTF does that mean?

Former US Army Special Forces.  Even while old and blind, he knew that was all that was required to take down a douchbag.

I noticed that the blind veteran didn't use any firearms.  Thanks a lot, Obama.  This situation could have been avoided if his second amendment rights weren't being infringed upon.

I would have torn his arms off and then beat him soundly about the head with them. Then I would have ripped his still-beating heart from his chest, made him look at it, and shoved it down his throat. I guess I'm just more hardcore than this wuss.

The best part?  When this guy is becoming somebody's biatch in prison.

"What are you in for?"
'I tried to beat up a blind guy and he kicked my ass'
"Pull down your pants and bend over, sweetie."

I once saw a blind guy wearing a G.G. Allin shirt getting harassed by a bum on the bus who wanted to pet his guide dog ( a small German Shepard). I just sat there and watched because the blind guy seemed to be ok. When the bum touched the dog and kept yelling at the blind guy he spun the bum around and put him in a full nelson lifting the smelly bum off the floor. The blind punk rocker then asked the driver what he wanted to do with the bum.  The bum looked so funny with his legs kicking and screaming. He carried the bum off the bus while the poor dog looked confused.

Who wants to bet that if this were posted on CBS local or whatever the commenters would be screaming that the attacker was probably someone of a certain color and thanking FartBango for soshialism and stuff?

Just funny when the comments thread is unusually quiet for a crime this stupid.

This. You have to have been in a fair number of fights to be that calm while being both blind and pummeled. To me the best part is he holstered his dog and did the "choke a biatch" part himself. I'm sorry to hear the attacker will recover.....round 2?

Reminds me of the story of that guy who robbed a Best Buy a few years ago; and was transported to a hospital with both arms broken as well as a few ribs after stabbing a marine and being stopped by the other marines.

The guy's only 51 (granted, he looks older),not 80 & being blind doesn't keep you from being in shape.

Taking a hip throw can knock the wind out of you on a mat, even with some training in breakfalls.  This dirtbag was probably stunned enough that before he realized what happened he was in a choke and really farked.

"Hip toss".  Sounds like a "hip throw" to me, although I don't claim to know how you find the guys neck after that (if it was a proper Judo choke out, the guy was out almost instantly).
