cannibalism is legal there.
If you are a vegaterian in the military there and get a MRE, it may be packed with a vegetarian.

Don't forget, they are part of the species too. Bring a few of them too when colonizing the universe, right?

FTA: "In July, police arrested 29 people accused of being part of a cannibal cult in Papua New Guinea's jungle interior and charged them with the murders of seven suspected witch doctors."

Think I know my next vacation destination.

Just cast anti-magic field.

That's why you need a hierophant druid to cast enchant bullet

So, a traditional firing squad is six shooters but only one bullet. Would that be one saving throw or six?

I think it's more like they want folks to stop killing people that they think are sorcerers.

I always thought is was six shooters and five bullets. That way you could always hope you were the one with the blank.

shiate, i was planning a trip for my 40th out to this area of the world.
Snorkeling looks amazing. But I don't want to deal with any firing squads or wizards.

Wouldn't you just be killing the sorcerers who aren't particularly good at magic?  Eventually you'd select for a small group of infinitely powerful sorcerers.

Or just a lot of sorcerers who are immune to fire.

My wife went to school and is good friends with a girl from PNG. She's always saying, "Oh you should come for a visit" and my wife nods enthusiastically while I mutter "no farking way" under my breath.

You aren't out at night in the cities nor do you travel at night but then again, there isn't much reason to be in the cities anyways.  Once you're in a village, you're their responsibility and they'll do anything for you.  Some of the nicest, shirt-off-their-backs type of people and if the shirt they are wearing is a rag, they'll still give that to you.

PNG gets a pretty bad rap but it's not the hell-hole that many people think.  When I was in Oz, people couldn't believe I was visiting.  Yes, they have lots of problems but some of the wildest places on Earth and nicest people.  I went to places where the children had never seen white people (and they didn't ask if I tasted like chicken) and where I was the first outsider to visit.  Probably the best two months traveling in my life.

Then they'd switch to drowning them, and when that stopped working, they'd weed out those who didn't have enough magic to avoid being buried alive, or whatever.  I think they should stop executing sorcerers now, if they want to avoid the eventual enslavement by magic that is bound to occur.

Funny about this.  JUST last night I viewed a documentary on this very same issue of cannibalism in the same place.  It's been out lawed for well over 50 years.  The really strange thing is that eating people is a method of transmission for Crutchfield Jakob Disorder/Disease.  AKA MadCow/Scrapie etc.  Apparently only women and children ate human flesh.  Warriors did not -the idea was that it would make them weaker warriors - boy, were they right on the money.

Shamefully I've forgotten the name of the doctor that has dedicated his life to this very issue of solving the puzzle of CJD in indigenous people.

The disease is called "Kudu"  "Laughing Disease"  It looked like a pretty awful way to go if you ask me, it's not a quick boom headshot kinda thing.  It's a relatively long decline.
No thanks, I'll have the fish.

also - "Firing squads are also used in the United Arab Emirates. " And that's because the UAE doesn't have enough  trained executioners capable of using a scimitar.  TRAINED - like you could pay for a course from Porter Chester and learn through the mail or something.  "Buy the course you get the books you get the tools you get the knowledge"

*shakes head walks away"

Just a slight correction:  The reason the men didn't get it so much as they got to choose first and got the better cuts of meat.  You know, the good solid muscles and the women and children got the brains and spine where the prions of kuru lay.  So for the men, yeah, it's good to be the king.  For the peasants, not so much.

Cannibalism in PNG was sometimes eating your enemy but you also ate your relatives too.  No need to let good vittles go to waste.

just found a source for the choice cuts reference:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_%28disease%29

Sorcery? Grow the fark up, people. The world has turned as many times for your little shiathole as it has for Manhattan or London. Ignorance of this magnitude in the 21st Century is an individual and collective choice at this point.

Some Papua New Guinea analysts said part of the reason that the country has not executed prisoners is the tribal culture of payback. An executioner, or even lawmakers who enabled the execution, could be subjected to violent retribution from members of the executed prisoner's clan.

This is why you execute the entire clan.  There's a reason Europe has only a couple dozen languages, while PNG has over a thousand.

Despite your blatant ethnocentrism, you have a slight point here - the rural village lifestyle is actually protected by the PNG constitution.

So yeah, it's a collective choice.
