Is this some sort of veiled reference to a certain radio hosts rumoured use of the services of Dominican "boys" on a personal ocean going "yott"? If it is, than I tip my had to the sumitter.

Meh, radio has been declining along with newspapers for a while. The Q3 2012 report for Clear Channel also noted that revenues declined compared to the year prior (i.e. Q3 of 2011). There is zero evidence that this drop is attributable purely to a boycott of Rush Limbaugh.

What I find most amusing is that its the same vulture capital acts gutting Clear Channel that its product trumpets on a daily basis.

If Limbo is smart, he will have an "Eye Opening" experience, turn HARD left, and do what he has done in the opposite direction. It won't last long, but he could maybe get in a good year of pissing off R-tards before he has to pack it in for good.

This is definitely all Limbaugh's fault and not the slow gradual death of radio as we know it.

Sure, but they were losing sponsors before, and Clear Channel is way bigger than Rush Limbaugh's show, individually.

So if a medium is dying, you rush to kill whatever money you have coming in?

Sorry, but your logic is just wow

All because Limbaugh dared to treat a liberal woman the same way liberals treat conservative women.

Correct...Clear Channel has been falling since Bain/Romney bought them

Limbaugh's show is not losing audience, and got new sponsors to replace the old ones, fact is that Limbaugh has a waiting list for sponsors to buy time

I would trust the DailyKooks on reporting bad right wing news as much as I would NewsMaxiPad reporting bad left wing news

Rush himself has complained about not being able to get sponsors.

What boyott boycott?  There was a Limbaugh boycott?

I think ClearChannel's problems are mainly due to them being in the terrestrial radio business.

I refuse to give a click to DailyKOS or AmericanThinker or any of the Paid provacatuer sites, but if the gist of it is that liberals refusing to listen to Rush is hurting his ratings, that cracks me up.

I've been saying for years that the best thing people can do to get rid of Rush is for all the liberals addicted to their daily outrage to go cold turkey, since they are half his audience. Rush feeds on liberal hate. He is specifically tailored to keep liberals tuned in, and glued to the radio.

/I've never understood why anyone listens to him.

My disdain for Clear Channel goes way beyond Limbaugh.  Clear Channel bought and ruined my favorite sports talk station in Detroit.  They can rot in hell for that alone.

from Clear Channel's earnings release:

Media and Entertainment ("CCM+E") revenues decreased $15 million, or 2%, driven primarily by the traffic business, which continues to reflect integration activities. Offsetting this decline was strength in radio stations, including national and digital operations.

Ooh, is this part of the creative destruction that Bain and vulture capitalism is known and lauded for? Go in to a company, sell assets, lay off workers, pump the stock, pay off the consultants, leave and laugh as the dessicated shell declared bankruptcy a few years later?

The schadenfreude is so, so delicious.

CC started firing people to pay Rush's massive contract years before the real decline started to kick in.  It was always a hoot to see a group of your friends get shown the door after years and years of hard work on the same farking day you would receive an email from the CEO telling everyone how great the stock was doing and how rosy the future looked.

I remember in early/mid-90's (My god, has he been on the air for twenty years?) when his sponsors were begging to be put on liberals' boycott lists, because Limbaugh's listeners would go and clean the grocery store shelves of the items. I suspect there are still plenty of companies willing to pay for the kind of exposure Rush brings.

absolutely--and whether or not randomjsa likes it, it's still a pretty terrible comparison. Liberals do crap on conservative women for being morons or extremists. Conservatives crap on liberal women because they show signs of independence or intelligence.

Sometimes. Sometimes it's easier to set up a shell company and pay patsies and shills. But, you know, caveat emptor and all that.

Too late for that:  the left hates him, and will shun his ass so hard that he'll bounce like a superball.  Put him back into sports broadcasting on fox sports or something...

This has far less to do with a boycott of Limbaugh then with the fact that radio is dying and Clear Channel is by far the worst run radio company out there. Boycotts are rarely effective nationally. They work great on local and regional issues but fail on national levels. The fall off of advertisers from Limbaugh is more a recognition by big advertisers that money spent on radio today is simply not the bargain it was as recently as ten years ago.

More Republican math that makes them feel good.

"We are losing in the polls? They must be flawed!"

Instead of fixing a problem pretend the data is incorrect. That worked out real well for them.

Delawheredad: radio is dying

That's really all there is to it.  Limbaugh is part of the terminally ill ecosystem of broadcasting by radiowaves.  The entire AM and FM spectrum should be reallocated and auctioned to increase mobile device bandwidth.  They can have an internet radio program if they really want.

2013-05-03 11:51:13 AM
I think this has already been covered but it has much more to do with Clear Channel's financial situation overall rather than the boycott.

Right-wing talk radio isn't the juggernaut it used to be. A lot of them are switching formats to either sports talk or back to music.
