It's boilerplate derp from Best Korea to blame the USA for everything.  The media usually cites or acknowledges this blame.

Stole? Pretty sure it was theirs to begin with.

And, why leave the Norks a generator?

Love the Crystal Maze reference.

Coincidentally, I got hooked on the show when I was stationed in South Korea. As far as I know, they never showed it here in the States.

They didn't steal anything. The SK employees took anything not bolted down back to their companies in SK. All of the factories belong to SK businesses and the closure is a gigantic loss for them. They're trying to save anything they can.

I assumed there was a US version of it for it to appear on Fark, but it seems not.

/not sure it would have worked without Richard O'Brian though, certainly the last two series after he left weren't anywhere near as good

It's not like they would have gas to put in it.  And yeah, everything of reasonable quality in that complex was probably SK in origin.  They're literally taking their ball and going home.

The Tudor-Pole Maze definitely lost some magic, that and the zone change. Never really cared for Ocean.

As for a US version, there was nothing with adults on it but there was a show out there I saw last year(?) with kids that seemed quite similar to Crystal Maze. Takes place on an island/castle/prison/something, majority of the challenges were physical, and earned keys instead of crystals for time. Don't remember the name of the show though.

They may be taking their ball and going home, but aren't they being forced to leave their ball factories behind?  Their very expensive ball factories, with all the ball-making equipment.

I thought this was a tremendous loss for some SK companies.

It probably will be, unless Kaesong re-opens at some point soon (and even then, the SK companies are losing money every day on this).  I was mostly saying that it's totally fair for the South Koreans to take back as much of their stuff as possible, under the circumstances.

This is such an idiotic move for NK.  They had precious little foreign investment, and now they've pretty much driven what they had right out the door.

Awesome show. Watch it when it pops up on The90sAreAllThat. Not the show I was thinking of.

---

Just googled a list of kids game shows and the one I was thinking of is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Boyard:_Ultimate_Challenge.
Interesting that it's still going on with Disney XD going to air it in "early 2013". I see it as a combination of The Crystal Maze and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

No, they were taking whatever they could carry that belonged to the factories with them. NK probably did this to seize the factories along with any raw materials and fuel. But once that runs out, they're screwed without the resources or expertise to run them. They've hurt no one so much as themselves with this move and I think the regime is going to run out of cash at this rate.
