The State Department's Office of Inspector General is investigating the special internal panel that probed the Benghazi terror attack for the State Department, Fox News has confirmed.

So it's an investigation of the investigation?

FTFA:

But State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell disputed the characterization of the review, saying it is "simply false" to assert the panel is being investigated.

"Rather, it is conducting a review of the ARB process itself going back two decades, looking at how Boards are convened, their standards, and the implementation of ARB recommendations," he said.

To see *if* they did something wrong.

This means Sarah Palin is automatically president and Ted Nugent gets to make sure Obama is dead or in jail.

And frankly, if this one doesn't find anything wrong, that's incredibly suspicious. Two investigations without anything? Surely worth investigating.

If Obama was every actually involved in a scandal, how would we ever know?  I mean, what could the media say that wouldn't be seen as just more ratings-seeking BS?  Fox News has totally destroyed the press' ability to hold politicians accountable.

Could you even imagine if that happened under Obama or the Valerie Plame fiasco or 9/11 or 11 embassy attacks... Republicans would go absolutely farking crazy.

Apparently, for some reason, the Right doesn't think that's a scandal.  I haven't been able to put my finger on why, but right now I'm too busy watching them pin medals to Oliver North's chest.

What??  You mean the amount of time, effort, and money spent on trying to pin 4 deaths on Obama could have been used to actually increase embassy security? Nooooo.

I suspect Obama snuck into the consulate and knifed them in their sleep. Unless he can produce hard proof to the contrary, then I have no reason to think otherwise.

And who knows what Congress could have accomplished in the amount of time they wasted on trying to repeal Obamacare ~40 times and counting, if they'd actually, y'know, DONE THEIR GODDAMN JOBS.

Scandal, does not matter, Obama got re-elected and shiaty decisions don't get you impeached.  The fact is, the 2am phone call came in and Obama, Clinton...... sat on their hands because they did not want to get entangled is something that could cost them the election.  If you think we couldn't do anything, you are wrong.  We don't have a military that is Hollywood fantastic but it's pretty d@mn close.  Blaming the video was disgraceful, but I really don't see what the Republicans expect to get out of this.   Keeping it in the headlines just makes you look foolish, everyone has already made up their minds on this issue.

I'm just a simple collection of organic chemicals, so forgive me if this sounds naive, but it doesn't sound like this "Fox News" organization is being entirely truthful in its characterization here.  If they're not careful, they could give people the wrong impression about the events surrounding the Benghazi incident.

/Someone should let them know.

I love how the article helpfully, and completely unironically, prints a statement showing the entire premise of the article is false and misleading:

I doubt one in 99 Americans knows anything about the Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro report on the Whitewater Real Estate deal. A Republican-leaning law firm was hired for $2M to investigate the Clintons and the McDougals back in the early 1990s, they did a thorough job, and ended up exonerating the Clintons on every charge and detail.

How did that work out?

Republicans have learned that if you don't get the scandal you want, ignore any exculpatory investigations or hard evidence just keep digging and investigating and throw anything you can towards Fox News and let them groom the proletariat.

That's how GWB got into the white house. Not hanging chads or whatever.
Obama hasn't given them much to work with, but Benghazi is what they got so they will go with it.

The State Department would not say something unless it was the truth. Or at least the truth based on the best currently available information. Or the truth once the information sanitized and distorted in order to protect an ongoing investigation. Wait, what?

I still... STILL don't understand what this conspiracy theory is about. I saw a piece of derp on Facebook the other day that even included photos of the dead floating above Obama and Hillary Clinton, with a caption that said something like, "May they be haunted by their crimes for the rest of their lives."

I sincerely don't get what these people think happened. Do you they think Obama was behind the attack? Do they think he covered it up? Does anyone here have a better grasp on this nuttery than I do?

Where were the nearest assets that could have been sent to Benghazi that weren't sent there within 30 minutes of the beginning of the attack? Gibraltar? Baghdad?
