Did you hear that, Mandrake?

Read that as fluorine.

It would probably still get rid of bacteria.

i am so sick of the additives... it is bad to swallow flouride yet they place it in the water. They even gave me some to puit directly on my daughters teeth

In other news, it's bad to swallow 50 aspirin, but they keep selling it over the counter.

Yes, if you eat an entire tube of toothpaste, you're going to be ill.  Going by the LD50, you're in real danger if you eat about 4 grams of sodium fluoride, which would be either 4 pounds of toothpaste (American toothpaste is ~0.22% NaF), or 1100 gallons of tap water (US tap is typically fluoridated to ~1 part per million).  It's water soluble and doesn't accumulate well in the body, so you should really do it all without peeing or vomiting for maximum effect.

In still other news, if you consume thousands of times the usual dose of alcohol, caffeine, potassium, table salt, Vitamin C, or nearly any natural or man-made substance, you're going to the hospital and/or morgue.  I somehow manage to brush my teeth regularly without accidentally swallowing 4 pounds of toothpaste.

Water fluoridation is one of the best-tested and most cost-effective public health improvements ever devised.  Don't worry about it when there are legitimate biochemical threats to your health (hormone mimics, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, pesticide residues, etc.) out there.

I'm rather certain that pure fluorine would indeed get rid of the bacteria in your mouth.  Would probably totally sterilize everything, as well as set your head on fire.

Well, it makes everything else more slippery, so that's a no brainer.

Your dentist has kids to put through college, so feel free to cut all of the fluoride out of your and your daughter's water.

Or science is covering up the fact that pesticides, endocrin mimics, and antibiotic resistance is all possible because of the fluoride in the water.  Chemical reactions and all that.

Oh, do tell us more about the theories you're pulling out of your ass.
