Damn, that sucks.

2013-05-02 07:44:21 PM
Well crap. I'd heard the guy was sick and suspected this might happen, but was hoping I was wrong.

2013-05-02 07:44:24 PM
Goddammit!

2013-05-02 07:45:34 PM
Well at least it's better than my headline. RIP thrash god of metal.

Yeah, I was just telling a friend that this is one of the few times I've ever been genuinely bummed at a celebrity death.

If the Golden God Awards don't acknowledge this event tonight, even with just a quick moment of silence or a hastily-made tribute, I will lose what tiny iota of respect I have for the show itself.

2013-05-02 07:46:06 PM
Yes, that is sad. But I have to admit this part made me chuckle a bit:

He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy...

RIP Jeff

Damnit.  That just brought down my good mood.

First Daddy Mac (or was it Mac Daddy?) of Kris Kross, and now this guy. Who will the third be?

2013-05-02 07:49:19 PM
Glad I got to see them play last year at mayhem, one of the best live acts ever. Seen em twice, got my face beat in by some white trash, would still see em again

Given how little these two had in common, I'll guess Donny Osmond as the third.

This sucks. He had a spider bite 2 years ago that turned into necrotizing facitis and hadn't been able to play because of nerve damage. I'm sure he drank like a fish but I wonder if that had anything to do with his liver failing.
RIP \m/

Not to be an insensitive prick, but did he have some legitimate disease or did he bring it upon himself by living the lifestyle of a rock star?

Yeah I have read that too, but what are the odds he was actually shooting something vs a weird spider bite nobody has heard of?

If you call being consumed by flesh eating bacteria legit, then yes

Seriously, how else would a member of Slayer go out (though I think it's more suitable demise for Kerry King)

Tonight's #GoldenGods show will be dedicated to Jeff Hanneman, who, with Kerry King, won the Best Guitarists award at the first-ever Golden Gods. Rest in peace. All of us at @revolvermag send our deepest condolences to the Slayer family.

I will be playing 'Reign In Blood' and 'Seasons in the Abyss' tonight. I was lucky enough to see them twice, and while the floor was brutal, they absolutely blew the doors off the joint.

RIP Jeff Hanneman

I saw them long ago...the South of Heaven tour I think. The pit during Raining Blood was farking intense.

R.I.P. Jeff. Thanks for the jams.

/Crank it up and piss off your neighbors!!!

In honor, I will play the entire Reign In Blood album tonight. \m/ \m/

Look up the spider bites of both black widows and brown recluse spiders. They are unbelievably nasty bites.

That damn spider bite wreaked havoc on his body.  He never fully recovered from it.

This is terrible news. First they boot Lombardo, now this.

Why couldn't it have been Kerry?

Necrotizing fasciitis of the liver is an very metal death indeed.

Few metal bands sent me running to look up words in the dictionary as often as SLAYER did.

Walker: First Daddy Mac (or was it Mac Daddy?) of Kris Kross, and now this guy. Who will the third be?

Deanna Durbin started off this trifecta, then Mac Daddy, and now Jeff Hanneman. Ms Durbin died in April, but her death wasn't made public until May 1st.

2013-05-02 08:02:50 PM
Probably a black widow spider. They cause acute necrosis of the skin, nerve damage and organ failure.

Me: From Slayer.

Me: Nevermind.

I wouldn't say they had little in common. Both had reached similar levels of skill, success and respect at their respective art.
