laulaja: Also compliments to John Buck 41 & Mrs on their Lake Place, meant to be offered yesterday & furr-got. Better later than not at all, eh?

Thank you. It actually belongs to my M/D. Dad is 90, Mom will be in January. There has been some discussion about finances and what the camp would be worth if they needed $$. Unfortunately I'm in no position to pay what it's worth, i.e fair market value. I've been going there for over 50 years. If we lose it I'll be devastated.

Here's a pic of the camp taken from the end of the dock.

Never come into the Caturday threads, but just making mention I fired off an email to ask to adopt Special since I live in Florida and have been considering getting a pet again for several months, especially a cat. The backwards legs thing is great.

This closely resembles what happens when I leave for work. One of my boys knows that I'm leaving and climbs on top of one of my shoulders. He then starts purring deeply and rubs his nose on the back of my head.

I have a "tom" who has declared my house his safe food and shelter spot.
luckily, he's not aggressive with my 6 residents. he's getting along with everyone here fine,
but every day when he shows up for breakfast he has new wounds. he's fighting something, somewhere...
he's very socialized-not feral, but an intact tom. I'm gonna have to spring to get him snipped. for his own good. and pay for his shots. but I can't take him in-I can't afford to. (damnit) but maybe he'll
find a good home if he's not fighting so much. I'm gonna check with my no-kill shelter to see if they can help relocate him. he'll have to go to a family who can let him go out

~*~*~*~*

Bless me, Caturday people, for I am confused (read: 'conflicted').

That mean, aggressive feral tomcat crossed the line today...beat up D'Artagnan when he (D'Artagnan) was trying to come inside.
I called Animal Control, they delivered the Hav-a-hart trap about noon. Had him trapped by 3:30, and they came and they took him away. No 'Ha-HA!' about it, however...

When I saw him in the trap, I just felt bad for the poor bastard...and I feel guilty, because I know what's going to happen to this hostile, aggressive, probably sick cat.

If he'd just gotten on with his feral routine, I wouldn't have had a problem, but I've spent over $200 dollars at the vet because of this cat...and that's NOT counting paying for the spaying of the original 'attractant' (next-door neighbor's queen-in-heat). It's not the money; it's what my poor cats have suffered (e.g., injury, having to visit the vet, treatment, etc.).

I still don't feel 'good' about this.

I know my cats (ALL the neighborhood cats) will be MUCH happier; it had gotten to the point where Riktor, Wimsey and Raven didn't want to go outdoors. After the cat had been trapped (but before AC came to pick him up), they went up to the trap (while keeping a safe distance) and just stared at him for a few minutes before sauntering off.
Pretty sure they knew what was going on...and there'll be a kitty performance of "Ding-dong, the bastard's GONE!" among the neighborhood felines tonight.

D'Artagnan seems to be OK aside from a pulled muscle or two...his gait is 'off', but there don't seem to be any wounds. Still going to keep an eye on him. I gave him some of Riktor's arthritis homeopathic medicine, and he did the 'slow blink' at me after I'd done so.

I am being summoned by Riktor, who wants a lap...
Thanks for letting me vent...I KNOW you folks will understand.

professional_vampire: sherpa18: professional_vampire, paging professional_vampire to the thread. I have a question regarding a botched blood draw. / yes, on me
The vampire is here - how may I help you this evening?

*WARNING - WALL OF TEXT*
OK, so I finally had to go to the doc today so that I can get my pills. I fought the blood test since I no longer have health insurance and they charge outrageous $$$ that I don't have. The doc was insistent, but worked with me so that it will cost less than usual (or so he says, I will see when I get the bill).

Anyway, normally I barely feel the prick of the needle, but this nurse made me actually yell OWW! Put the gauze over the puncture, held my arm up (I don't do band-aids/tape as it makes me break out) and finish up with the doc and stuff, and I'm getting ready to leave when I notice a huge blood filled lump at the puncture site. Asked the nurse WTF? and she tells me I did not apply adequate pressure for at least 1/2 hour. WTH? I have never held it for more than 5 minutes. So they get the doc and he was like, yeah, you are gonna have a BIG bruise. They gave me an ice pack and told me to keep it pressed hard against the lump. Luckily, I am used to driving with one hand, so I kept it pressed on until the cold pack melted, and then put on another one with an ace bandage when I got home. The swelling has NOT gone down, and it is already turning colors. And it is sore.

Is this something I have to worry about? (I asked at the doc's office, and they said if I had a problem to call them. Um, your office closes in 15 minutes and my doc is leaving on vacation tonight). Should I keep the cold pack on? The ace bandage? And are we in agreement that that nurse has no idea how to draw blood?

Dad is home and feels fine, though taking it easy as he still gets a bit short of breath after exertion. But hell, he's 90! Jasper is home but very logy. Made it thru his 'procedure' with flying colors. Vet said to expect him to gain some weight (he's 10.5# now) but that's a general rule when critters get neutered. Thanks to all for your thoughts and comments on both my Pa and my Kitteh.

A moveable sofa!

A real hosrshair sofa too!

Story time, I have a very early memory of being put down for a nap in Oma"s house in Germany. I remember the room was cold and the sofa was very hard and itchy against my face. I did not want to take a nap there. I must have been around three or four at the time. Mom told me later that it was a horsehair sofa in her parents parlor.

And if that doesn't work, I'll take him up Longs Peak, one of our more difficult 14ers, and tape a steel rod on him, that way if he doesn't take a header off the mountain or die from a heart attack he will be struck by lightening, which will give him a good idea of how that kitten felt.

*crawls in the thread*  Hi everyone. Sorry I have been absent alot the last few weeks. Lots going on in Becca Land. My Mom is having spinal surgery on the 13th, so I am heading to Michigan on the 11th and will be with her for 5 weeks. There is a 50/50 chance she could come out of this paralyzed.  I will check in on Caturday when I can. I was just up there 2 weeks ago to see my new grandson. I am stressed beyond my limits. Even my "happy pills" aren't taking the stress away. I want to scream, cry, and knock the shiat out of something. My brother lives about 30 minutes away from my parents, and can't be nice enough to help out. He will come and see mom and dad, but as far as this surgery aftercare goes, he will be of no help. I guess he feels its easier for me to drive 9 hours one way to do it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my parents and will do what ever I have to. I am feeling guilt along with the stress, because I will be leaving my husband alone for 5 weeks. I know, he can take care of himself, he can cook, clean, and would make someone a wonderful house husband. So I don't know why I am feeling so guilty. My poor cat is going to wonder what the hell happened to me. Maybe this isn't the place to vent, and I am sorry about that. It was either come in here and vent, or vent at my husband. He knows how difficult I am having it right now, so I hate to make him worry more. Forgive me for all the words if I post a cat pic??

That's because shopping in the Women's section goes a bit like:

"Ugly, ugly, poor quality, will not fit a normal human, uncomfortable, also uncomfortable, sh*tty quality and materials, REALLY ugly, clearly designed to fit a Barbie doll, how the hell do you even put that on, overpriced garbage..."

It took me an hour to find some f*cking khaki slacks a few months ago. Plain, 100% cotton, comfortable khakis. All of the "pants" in the women's section were sh*tty polyester-blends (without a strand of cotton in sight) that were poorly stitched together and didn't fit at all. I went over to the men's section and in a few minutes had three different styles that I tried on for best fit and looks, which were more durable and comfortable than the women's, and fit properly. Fark women's styles so much. Especially shoes. NEVER AGAIN. (Even for high heels, my friend recommended me to a site that caters to drag queens, because I have BIG FEET.)

This little nut is learning to climb trees! He is chasing birds and squirrels and Oma Cassie.
This morning he chased her around the garage, his back was arched and all his hair was puffed out huge. Oma Cassie is faster and more agile than Li-Ion so I don't think she will be hurt but I don't know why he chases her. She got away from him easily this morning but he was still all puffed up and Tom jumped out from behind the water trough and pounced on him. The look on his face was priceless. Tom rolled him over and then just walked away. I hope Li-Ion and Cassie come to some kind of peaceful agreement.

THE HUNTER GOES

The Hunter goes silently,
Creeps on velvet paws.

Stalks through the tall grass.
All that he surveys,

He owns.

Sits patiently waiting

Chipmunks tell tales,
Of torture.

Squirrels
Are not immune.

He is fast.
Bolts across the lawn.

Jaws open,
Paws retrieve.

Caught in a deadly vise.
A terrified plaything.

Some escape,
Some do not.

No blame.

He is Cat,
And a Hunter,

He goes.

lilyspad: predle: That is one patient cat and one annoying fart, er ferret, yeah I mean it's an annoying ferret

That's funnee....every time I think "Hmmm, I might like to get a ferret", and then I see something like that. NOPE!

Was at the pet store getting food for the clowder and noticed they had baby ferrets. All curled up together and sleeping.
Serious "D'aaawww"...could see how people would think "WANT!".
Then I remembered B4's posts on his gang...and the lady at checkstand utterly agreed with the term 'terrorist' as applied to ferrets.

Raven was walking...or rather hobbling wounded after a wrestling match with Riktor. Couldn't set her left hind leg to the ground.
Hit the PANIC button...thinking "Oh no...she's dislocated something!"

Then she jumped onto the comfy chair...dial panic back to DEFCON 3. Still, next morning we're at the emergency vet (they have X-ray machine). $200 dollars later the verdict is in...she has a sprained toe. Vet and tech complimented me on what a nice cat she was...even though she was not happy, she was very cooperative about the X-ray (I'm not permitted backstage for this).
Afterwards they got some cheekrubs, and she even managed a small purr.
She's responding well to the anti-inflammatory, and not giving me any static about taking it.
Told her what it was, why she needed to take it, and that she would get a treat afterward. Think it's the last bit that carried the day.

D'Artagnan has gone walkabout again. If he's not back by tonight I'm putting an ad in the paper. Think he may have gotten stuck somewhere...AGAIN. I wish he wouldn't do this...and that there was some way of making him happy to stay closer to home.
Think I need a Cat Whisperer...the rest of the clowder get along very happily with each other and don't go very far from home base.
Wish I knew what's bugging D'Artagnan...

Y'all are on a ROLL with the pics!

Think I figured out why I felt so badly about busting that feral cat. Poor thing was doomed from the start, through no fault of his own.
Still, there was a noticeable change in the neighborhodd attitude.
Last night when Raven and I went to Mordor, there was a 4-way game of cat-tag going on in my yard between Riktor, Wimsey, and two of my neighbor's cats. Would have been spats and squaring-offs before.

Got a fire drill tonight at Mordor...need to get there early so I have some backup.

Once I say, I may hear, but computer hasn't sung at me for a while.  Managed scan of medal, but it requires 2 -- medal itself prefers not to line up with marked ribbon.  5km got blue, 10km got red, kids marathon got yellow.
Mob that let dopekitty74 live with them are all attractive.

Wl see if he's expected to survive -- do hope so.  Next along with medal etc.
Humidity now 51% so close up first.

Congratulations Orb!

My beautiful boy, Goldencents, didn't win, hell didn't even come close, but he's still #1 in my book!

Hello my Caturday breathren!

Mr. Meowgi and I have been lurking for a while; I was sick, he fell while I was sick and scared me near to death, he went to my parents to avoid getting cat fur in my stitches/abscesses, he came back and became a lap cat. Surprised me, but if I recline on the sofa now he curls up on my chest. This from a cat who spent 3 years just trying to stay right at arms reach, and no closer.

But, we're back! Or we will be soon. We're moving out of this crumby apartment soon, and into a nice big place. Lots of places to climb, so dumbass can fall again and I can snap pictures . . . I mean, snap pictures before he falls and then go all panic-y. Hopefully he'll start posing again soon, right now the big black lump is just stretched out across a dirty pair of pants that he dragged next to my desk. Not much of a sight, I fear.

Sickapie: maynerdkitty: Took this video earlier this week, I saw Tom with something in his mouth but I did not notice King George following him around at first. From the look on poor Toms face this has happened before!

HAHAHAHAHAA!  What a brat!

"Dum dee dumm..just going to prance around and look innocent...YOINK!"

Nothing innocent about George. He thinks he rules the roost. I had nine of his babies hatch out at Easter but I am down to just three left. I thought it was hawks, owls, possums, snakes. I did not think it was my neighbors dogs until I saw them going down the driveway carrying one of the chicks. About an hour later that dog was hit by a car. I had to go out and take care of it. They called the sheriff on me. Nobody is happy and their pet is gone because they would not keep them in the yard. I would think if my dogs show up with dead chickens every day its time to lock up the dogs. I have not lost a single one since then. Sad situation all around. And Fiona stayed under the house and watched it happen. The older chicks were staying in the horse pen, I noticed the horses were extra "stompy" around Fiona and now I know they had been kicking at the neighbor dogs. I have got to find a good farm dog soon. Fiona needs a role model.

Another special needs cat who needs a home. This one is in San Diego area. He is a blind feral rescue. The link goes to Rescue's Facebook coverage.

Check out the Rescues main Facebook page for a video and pictures.  He will be at their Petco adoption event in El Cajon this afternoon.  It looks like the rescue is being very picky about adoptees for this kitty and who can blame them.  We would be checking this out if we weren't full a cats already.

Happy Caturday everbody!!!

First - A Farking huge THANK YOU to Bathia Mapes for her gifting me with a month of Toadal Fark!

Second - Happy International Star Wars day to everyone.  May the Fourth be with you (ducks all the tomatoes and rotten veggies flying my way).

Third, in honor of May 4th, I photoshopped a cheesy send-up of the last moments of the ISSD Executor.  I used it before in an MLP thread, so I hope that doesn't detract from your enjoyment of it.  ENJOY!

Lola's new haircut...beats picking up hairballs.
She actually moves around a lot more when she has shorter hair. When her hair is all grown out, she just lays down on the wood flooring to keep cool.
As a bonus, she *almost* becomes a cuddler.
Almost.

She looks a bit like my 4 y/o Jasper, only greyer. He is going in for THE PROCEDURE Monday morning.

Sadie does not like to be petted. She hates being in anyone's lap. She loves it when I talk to her, though.
Here she is, sitting on the arm of my easy chair and listening to me blather on about how pretty she is.

Spoiled? No. Not my princess.

Tony's Brother, Titus.

Unfortunately we had to put him down over Christmas. He had some kind of liver disease and nothing the vets did seemed to work. Broke my heart. Occasionally, Tony will still run around the house looking for him.

I gave him some of Riktor's arthritis homeopathic medicine, and ...

You did the right thing sweetie, we have been there in the past too.
