yobbery: Hi guys, how is everyone's Monday?

I cut the dickens out of my thumb today with a carpet knife. I finally found a good use superglue. Once I stopped the bleeding I placed a fine bead over the slice and spread it around a bit, then went right back to work. GOOD AS NEW! Like it never even happened.

My son had surgery when he was 6 weeks old, the Dr.s just glued him back together. He had two stitches on one side and that side took longer to heal than the side that was just glued and not sewn. Hope you feel better soon.

John Buck 41: Dad is home and feels fine, though taking it easy as he still gets a bit short of breath after exertion. But hell, he's 90! Jasper is home but very logy. Made it thru his 'procedure' with flying colors. Vet said to expect him to gain some weight (he's 10.5# now) but that's a general rule when critters get neutered. Thanks to all for your thoughts and comments on both my Pa and my Kitteh.

Yes that IS a gin and tonic on the right. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I have no idea what the stain is on his pant leg.

Glad to hear things are working out. For pop and puss..hugs to both, gin and tonic to one..you decide who..

A staple gun will work for that too.  Morticia will be happy to give you a slice if you want to try it out.

I'd swear it's only been a week or two since i last said hello. they all kinda blended together for some time and i never remember that it's caturday until too late at night for me. then, i never grab the computer to sit in the kitchen while hubby sleeps on sunday. my laptop gets warm, i don't like holding it. the battery is kinda crappy and doesn't always charge. sometimes hubby simply takes over the laptop and i don't ever argue about it.
excuses, i have so many of them.
back to the lurking now. real updates soonish i should hope.

A moveable sofa!

A real hosrshair sofa too!Story time, I have a very early memory of being put down for a nap in Oma"s house in Germany. I remember the room was cold and the sofa was very hard and itchy against my face. I did not want to take a nap there. I must have been around three or four at the time. Mom told me later that it was a horsehair sofa in her parents parlor.
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 400x414]

guess which little stinker wouldn't take a nap on an itchy, old sofa!

I'm serious. It was deep, but not bad enough to need stitches. I'd still recommend against trying to re-attach a finger with it, that's best left to the professionals.
I figured it does a good job of gluing two fingers together....why not one?

I had six stab wounds in my side after lung surgery in 2010. They looked pretty ugly with the glue on them and I was sure I'd have scars. Two are gone now and you barely see the other four.

Actually, it works pretty well. I've done that myself. Not to stop the bleeding, but to seal it after it stops bleeding. Last for a couple of days, then re-apply as needed. There is also a product out now (can't remember the name) that is a powder and you pour it onto a bleeding wound and it makes it coagulate to stop the bleeding. Supposed to work pretty well.

*WARNING - WALL OF TEXT*
OK, so I finally had to go to the doc today so that I can get my pills. I fought the blood test since I no longer have health insurance and they charge outrageous $$$ that I don't have. The doc was insistent, but worked with me so that it will cost less than usual (or so he says, I will see when I get the bill).

Anyway, normally I barely feel the prick of the needle, but this nurse made me actually yell OWW! Put the gauze over the puncture, held my arm up (I don't do band-aids/tape as it makes me break out) and finish up with the doc and stuff, and I'm getting ready to leave when I notice a huge blood filled lump at the puncture site. Asked the nurse WTF? and she tells me I did not apply adequate pressure for at least 1/2 hour. WTH? I have never held it for more than 5 minutes. So they get the doc and he was like, yeah, you are gonna have a BIG bruise. They gave me an ice pack and told me to keep it pressed hard against the lump. Luckily, I am used to driving with one hand, so I kept it pressed on until the cold pack melted, and then put on another one with an ace bandage when I got home. The swelling has NOT gone down, and it is already turning colors. And it is sore.

Is this something I have to worry about? (I asked at the doc's office, and they said if I had a problem to call them. Um, your office closes in 15 minutes and my doc is leaving on vacation tonight). Should I keep the cold pack on? The ace bandage? And are we in agreement that that nurse has no idea how to draw blood?

Sounds like maybe they went through the vein, and the blood accumulated on the other side. Keep icing it with slight pressure. Your whole arm will probably turn purple and hurt like hell for a few days. I would suggest rum and ibuprofin for the pain. (HUGS)

Sherpa18it is a hematoma, and tne nurse went thru the vein. It is gonna hurt like a Son of a Bleep! For a while. Ice is good. Other than that? IDK. I will ask me Mum. She has had boo koo issues with veins. Ans she was a med tech, so she knows veins..she told me that you should only allow a tech/urse two tries to get blood. Then demand someone else.
