In order to qualify for a gun, residents must first bass a background check and receive firearms training. Residents must also have lived at their current address for at least a year.

It seems that the bass gun has been around for some time.

When they start handing out guns to visitors at state and national legislatures, they may have a point. Don't see that happening. Ever.

Supposing this was a good idea to begin with, difficulty: a lot of the time, if you give poor people something nice to try to help them, they'll get desperate and sell it for a fraction of what it's worth to somebody who probably shouldn't have it.

So, you know, more than a few of these tiny little windfalls are going to end up "reported lost or stolen".

/ Learned that lesson giving an idiot relative who's never figured out that she needs a job a hand-me-down TV.
// Oh, you sold it for $50 so you could make your car insurance payment and now you need a TV again?

alabama boy 4 fatally shoots self

A toddler who overcame serious health problems at birth died after accidentally shooting himself with his father's gun in their Utah home.

A 12-year-old mistaken for a home invader in Florida was shot and killed by his older brother

A Kentucky mother stepped outside of her home just for a few minutes, but it was long enough for her 5-year-old son to accidentally shoot and kill his 2-year-old sister

That's their problem for leaving loaded weapons out like that.  Some people are retarded.  Some people also
leave keys in the car and kids drive off.

That shouldnt be a reason to keep everyone else from having them.  We just need a 'stupid test'

1> Should I keep loaded guns out where my kids can get them.
  >Yes
  >No

2> You see some men obviously with ill intent.  You load up your double barrel shotgun.  Do you:
  >Tell them to stop or you will shoot them
  >Shoot them
  >Fire both barrels into the air, disarming yourself.

Number of kids age 12 and under who died from gun accidents in 2010:  44, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That's out of a population of around 52.9 million, so the odds are literally more than a million to 1.

They get food stamps, health care, and Obamaphones, why not an Obamagun too?  The amount of people that are killed by Obamaguns will reduce the amount of public assistance being provided to them (dead people dont need Obamaphones or Obamafood) thus offsetting the cost of Obamaguns.

Do you know how many kids clime into the family car every year and pull the emergency break and roll over and kill their sibling/friend every year?
It is a dangerous world, people who should be watching their kids better and or accidents happen.

My local news is doing a special exclusive tonight on "The 3 guns criminals use most.  Find out what kind of guns criminals most use and prepare yourself for what to do!"

My first thought was "Does it matter what gun is pointed at me and is there really anything you can do depending on model of gun?"  Yes, i'm sure trained folks can think of something to do differently if faced with a six shooter or a semi-auto Glock but your average person?

/not sure if thread jack..my post did have the word "gun" in it.

I'd certainly hate for people in high crime areas to be able to defend themselves. Don't poor people know they are to be victims forever?

Also, how many times do we have to see this story on the front page?

I wish we could get back to those days.  Rational thinking as opposed to emotional reaction.  Every time i hear the phrase "If we can help one child...", my bullshiat radar pegs out.

This boat we call a country....  something happens, spin the wheel.  something else happens, spin the wheel in the opposite direction.  We never have a set course. we just go around in circles.

How often do I mention it?  Only in connection with an actual, you know, terrorist event where Islam seems to have been a motivating factor.  So we're in complete agreement here.

I'm glad you see things my way.  Welcome to the word of rational discussion.

Actually, *YES*, it does matter.

If a person points a revolver at you, and you can't see any bullets in the cylinder, chances are that it's unloaded.  Yes, there might be *ONE* round in the gun, in the chamber that's aligned with the barrel, but that's a pretty unlikely situation unless you've already been in a gun fight.

That's not training, that's just common sense and observation.

Maybe the person with the gun has been in a fight, and maybe he's lost count in all the excitement.
The question is if you feel lucky?
Do you really gots ta know?

For you and I, who have been exposed to firearms.  Much the same as I might look to see the position of the safety.  However, most people watching the news, wont react like that in that situation.

Your average never seen/held a gun person's first thought will be, there's a gun pointed at me and go no further.
