Gotcha. I was thinking it had something to do with them being companion animals, but most of the folks I know around here use them for work purposes only (draft and ranching).

A friend of my fiance's just unloaded all of his horses (used for herding cattle) because they were getting too expensive for him to care for and maintain. Switched to using three border collies instead.

/most of our rancher friends use ATVs to herd their cattle now
