That's raci.....

Tyler, the Creator

Actually, now I'm confused as to whether I should be outraged or not.

Having grown up in West Virginia, I can say there is no way the average Mt Dew conosieur would ever find ANY ad too racist.

2013-05-01 08:17:51 PM
Well,,,the goat anyway

The South China Morning Post explains, "Fu Manchu is a stereotypical Chinese villain, the embodiment of the 'yellow peril,' who has been described as one of the most racist characters in literature and cinema."

You're telling me, I was so offended by this movie I had to watch it with the MST3K crew

2013-05-01 08:32:42 PM
I watched the commercial.  Pretty racist.

2013-05-01 08:38:53 PM
Yeah, that's bullshiat. I've never seen a goat dressed like that.

2013-05-01 08:46:48 PM
Should have put one of the guys in the lineup in a Redskins shirt.

2013-05-01 09:15:16 PM
This anti-goat sentiment is really bothering me.  They have rights too!

2013-05-01 10:22:31 PM
Racist and offensive to battered women? Sure.  But what's worse is that it was just bad.  I watched the other two I could find from the series and they're crap, too.  They're shiat from conception to execution.

2013-05-01 10:26:34 PM
The breaking point was the inclusion of wire hangers.

2013-05-01 10:30:15 PM
So, I'm guessing the Trunk Monkey Commercials are right out of there?

2013-05-01 10:34:29 PM
Wow, whether you find it racist or not, that was just plain dumb.

/They did give us the chainsaw wielding ferret commercial though.

If the woman had been armed, this never would have happened, she could have just drank her mountain dew.

I was just confused by the whole thing.

Anyone who can be arsed to have even the slightest inkling of who Tyler the Creator is has absolutely no reason not to expect some crap like this.

FTFA: Picture a grim police line-up with five young African American men in stereotypical "thug" garb, and a goat. That's just the opening shot.

Forget the goat for a minute...

"Stereotypical 'thug' garb"?

Is TFA trying to say that African American men don't really dress this way? Sh*it, I need to go tell my neighbors that they're fostering a false stereotype.

The Alabama Trunk Monkey commercials were FAR more racist.

Would've thought they'd just run a "Like A Prayer" reboot with Rihanna and some Pentacostals.

What I don't understand is people calling the ad "racist".  I don't give two farks what color the guys in the lineup are - the ad makes fun of beating women and intimidating them into not reporting to the police.  THAT is a problem and that is why the ad should never have been produced or played.

2013-05-02 09:52:36 AM
The spot is one of a series featuring an intoxicated goat called Felicia created by Tyler, The Creator -  leader of the hip-hop collective One Future.

Oh, look. I found your problem. You're too stupid to bother checking into the people you hire to create your commercials.

/ "One" Future?
// lulz
/// Odd Future's music sucks

That was one of the lost points...  but I think it points to the fact that the ad does kind of cross the line into the "offensive on multiple levels" territory...

Though, it kind of makes all the noise about the white Jamaican dude ad seem REALLY silly now, no?

I saw the commercial this morning, on the news. It's so ugly, stupid, and tasteless that I didn't even get as far as thinking about whether it's "racist" or not. I'm embarrassed, as an adult human being, that a grown member of my species would make something like it.

2013-05-02 10:49:36 AM
Whoa hey how did they know what my weekend plan was??

So I noticed there were black people in this video. Did anyone ask them if they felt it was racist? Were they enslaved and forced to make this commercial? Nope!

/racist argument = invalid. move along.

You're welcome. They were big viral hits when them showed up on YouTube several years ago.
