If only some kind of federal law could be passed to make health care more affordable for these poor folks.

2013-05-01 04:28:57 PM
42%? Kinda low, Romney had them at 47%..

2013-05-01 04:32:40 PM
The same percentage of stupid people voted for obama. The rest just hate America.

42%?
OMG! This means Douglas Adams was right and that Deep Thought has finally finished figuring out what the question to life the universe and everything is:

Out of every 100 people you will meet in your life how many will be complete and utter farking morons?

Which of those two groups are you in?

You are of course then aware that the linked story doesn't mention political affiliations at all in relation to the people who took the poll.

2013-05-01 07:10:32 PM
I think some of the confusion is due to different parts of the law being phased in at different times, as well as the recent delays in setting up the exchanges.  Or at least that's what I want the explanation to be for the "23 percent who say they don't know enough to say what the status of the law is."

2013-05-01 07:16:00 PM
Only 12 percent? If my Facebook feed is any indication that seems very low.

That's fair.  It's EXACTLY how I feel about the Right.  Only difference is that I feel the same way about the Left, but just to a smaller degree.

Now, about this fantasy world.  Its not going to infringe on my time in the Hatch shower with Kate, is it?  We've got enough Dharma drop supplies down here to last for years!

I don't think that Republicans would make up a large part of that 42%, seeing how much they just love to rage about it

To be fair, some of the people taking the poll thought they were voting against it.

You all do know a lot of the stuff doesn't actually go into effect until next year, right?

2013-05-01 08:35:13 PM
How did they word the question? I couldn't find the exact wording in the link to the poll. If they asked "has Congress passes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act?" then it doesn't surprise me, since when has the full name ever been used in the press? If they asked "is Obamacare law?" then I'm more surprised.

2013-05-01 08:41:12 PM
Surely the "29% Think Armed Rebellion Might Soon Be Necessary" crowd is a  sub group of this one

2013-05-01 09:13:04 PM
And about 90% believe that it's actually called "Obamacare".

12349876: You all do know a lot of the stuff doesn't actually go into effect until next year, right?

Yep.  They planned it this way purposely - 'death by a thousand cuts'.  Notice that they waited until after the election for it to take effect too - that way the public could be fooled into thinking it wouldn't crash the economy by destroying small businesses.  Obama isn't good for much, but he is good at being a wily scoundrel of a politician.

I know it's a law but I'd be hard pressed to tell you what's been enacted besides kids staying on their parents' plans and the ban on pre-existing conditions. I have no idea if exchanges are up and running, or if people are going to be fined by the IRS this year if they don't sign up.

So yeah it's a law, but people like me who even follow the news have no clue what's going on with it.

Have you attended a barbecue thrown by Wiccans? I highly recommend it. Those folks can thrown down on a grill. It's like they truly respect the meat beyond the obvious "Nom nom nom" factor.

No he's right its on the freep republic almost constantly. Not say what they think isn't moronic and inaccurate but I'd say its definitely a more high profile situation to them then the average person.

Why throw them down on the grill?

They're tastier cooked on the traditional stake.

Oh God, you are just so adorable.  C'mon, tell us another one.  Maybe one about Agenda 21 and how it's the UN plan to take over the US Government through environmental regulations.  Or maybe tell us about the death panels and health insurance for dogs that's part of Obamacare.  Ooo, wait, I know!  Tell us about how the UN Arms Trade Treaty was designed specifically to nullify the 2nd Amendment.

Here's the actual question from the poll (PDF):

As you may know, a health care bill was signed into law in March 2010. As far as you know, which comes closest to describing the current status of the health care law?

It is still the law of the law[sic] and is being implemented - 59%
It has been overturned by the Supreme Court and is no longer law - 7%
It has been repealed by Congress and is no longer law - 12%
Don't know/Refused - 23%
