Oh, and I was just watching the latest report on TV. There will be a hearing after 3PM.

accelerus: now if only we could collect up every other person that's violating their visa or is here illegally - we could free up quite a lot of social services for actual citizens.

Not trying to thread jack at all -- it's just nice to see people being held to the rules for once in this country. Sucks it's on fear mongering because of terrorists... but anyone here on a Visa knows how long they can stay... you can't play dumb when it comes to stuff like this.

Follow the rules or we kick you out -- it sounds pretty damn reasonable to me.

now there you go making sense, logic is not allowed on the internet.

SRSLY.  It's amazing just how much people are desperately wanting this bombing to have foreign connections though.

I will say if they were caught overstaying then heck yeah they should get deported, like everyone else - you know the odds when you overstay a visa, and well, sucks to be you.  Enjoy your 5 to 10 year ban.

If they hid evidence and lied about it, again, worthy of punishment.  Still doesn't mean "ooh, booga booga terrorism" though.  If you help your friend cover up a murder, doesn't matter who it is, that's worth some charges.

lennavan: FLMountainMan: Are you sure that's what you wanted to cite? That contradicts your argument.

No, it actually doesn't.  You should actually read it.

FLMountainMan: And honestly, I'm open to the fact that your argument may be right, but I'm less so after reading that report you cited.

Honestly, I'm open to discussion.  But I mean, put yourself in my shoes - I cited something that clearly demonstrated the cost of illegal immigrants is negligible and in the case of Texas, they actually get more in taxes than they spend on services.  It hammers my argument home without even having to discuss how expensive it would be to round up all illegals, that's how farking strong it was.  Clearly you didn't read it.  You asked for a citation, I gave it and you just ignored it.  So what do I do?  You're just not interested in honest discussion.

Sigh.  Did you read it?   Texas spent a half a billion more in services than it got in taxes.

From page 9 of the publication you cited - "most of the studies that include both revenues and costs for multiple programs show that state and local governments spend more on unauthorized immigrants than they collect in revenues from that population."

Note that includes only state and local governments, where the majority of public assistance comes from the federal government.

And Texas?  From page 10 of the article you cited - "another report - prepared by the comptroller of Texas - estimated that in 2006, the state collected $424 million more in revenue from unauthorized immigrants than it spent to provide education, health, and law enforcement services to that population.  However, the state estimated that local governments incurred $1.4 billion in uncompensated costs for health care and law enforcement.

Don't strain yourself shifting the goalpost.

I think its high time we dropped all this poltically correct bulshiat and open our eyes to who our enemies really are.  It's time for us to start openly racially profiling Caucasians, searching them at airports tapping thier phones etc.   It's the only way to be safe.  And if they don;t like that, well then the Caucasian communtiy needs to do a better jop of policing thwir own.

2013-05-01 03:08:40 PM
Yeah immigration is going to nail them for expired visas - at the very least - because the feds are going to look at every farking little thing tangential to the guys that actually did the bombing. So if someone you had contact with does something nasty of this magnitude then you'd better have your own shait in order, too.

Pfft...  Right about now...  if you've ever had a tea and scone with one of those guys...  If you smelled their breath as they passed you in the mall...  You will be investigated up to your eyeballs.  And if you happen to have any issues with immigration because you were stupid enough to not follow up on your legal status (Visa), you will almost certainly be taken into custody and interrogated.  And if you don't answer all the questions as expected, you will also find yourself incarcerated for an indeterminate amount of time.

This is the legal world we live in now thanks to those farking jackoffs that pulled off 9/11.

It's sort of like when Janet Jackson flipped out a boob during the Super Bowl.  Except Justin Timberlake wasn't there, and (as far as I know) there were no exposed boobs.

No, I'm not.  The original point I made is the cost is negligible and yes, yes sure enough according to what you quoted, the state government of Texas actually made money off illegal immigrants.  Now, you'd be an enormous jackass to think I'm arguing illegals pay more in than they get out, given you read the same citation I did.  That citation clearly argued the cost of illegal immigrants was pretty farking small.

Now that $1.4 Billion, we can discuss that as well.  You see, that's the local government spending on health care and law enforcement.  It's a big number, right?  Are you suggesting enforcing illegal immigration laws is really expensive?  Whoa, so am I:

lennavan: You do of course realize, the amount of money you would have to spend to do this would exceed the amount of money you would save, right?

I mean, I'm with you in principle, but in actual practice you're own your own.

If I'm not mistaken, Atta's race actually was white.  His ethnicity was Arab or something more specific to his family's origin.  I'm not an expert, but I do know it's a commonly mistaken difference (and currently subject to argument by the powers that be).

theknuckler_33: que.guero: And yet the Saudi national possibly involved enjoyed a first class seat on an Emirates flight back home.

Did that guy ever actually get deported?

No. Glenn Beck, Breitbart, Alex Jones, et. al. conflated a completely different Saudi who was being deported with the kid who was injured in the bombing, who isn't a suspect and hasn't been deported. Typical derportage. It's still red hot on the wingnutosphere, but hasn't spread beyond even to Fox, because the "terrorist links" involving that kid are that he has the same last name as some Al Qaeda guys. His last name they're referencing is al-Harbi, which means "person of war." Obviously, everyone with that name (approximately one million people) and all their relatives were the 21st hijacker.

I'm starting to think that the latest trend among right-wingers is to take something that was said by a bunch of anonymous Web commenters and attribute it to "the media." It's far too ambiguous to look up (like they care about sources anyhow), gives them something stupid to get outraged about and blames it on a source they love to hate.

Look, you can be a tea party follower, even a Patriot moron, without being a terrorist. But that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people who fit that radical label who ARE terrorists, or want to be. When militia members talk about watering the roots of the tree of liberty with blood SOME OF THEM ACTUALLY MEAN IT.

Libruls need to acknowledge that the New Left anti-war movement encouraged terrorism in the '70s, and conservatives need to acknowledge that the militia and patriot movements encouraged terrorism in the '80s, '90s and ...?

No. I suspect that's partly why there's such desperation that this be part of some giant furrin' war plot so that Those In Charge Can Do Something About It, or something.

It's closer to Columbine than 9/11, really.
