One of the many skills mastered by Special Forces is immersion in the culture they are assigned to. Language, customs etc. My uncle, who was SF in Vietnam, to this day, does not forgive that our country abandoned the Montagnard People to the communist Vietnamese. He fought alongside them, shared their passions for victory, earned two Silver Stars and a purple heart for them and then was ordered to walk away.

This doesn't seem unrealistic at all. Hell, I know a few people that were so changed by that war they still live in the region and have very lucrative careers. Different path, though.

People just have no idea about the Special Operator. Take the smartest kid you knew in high school. Instead of sending him to Yale, send him to JFKSWCS, he's going to be the most capable individual you've ever seen.

Yeah. It's him.
