Agree with this! Most likely a sea floor subsidence event related to an earthquake or volcanic eruption that caused it. They would have moved this stuff if they had time...

I wouldn't worry too much. Mummies are already pretty slow, and once they're waterlogged you could probably escape from them at a casual walk. You definitely want to watch out for lacedons though.
