He's too busy managing his blind trust.

Kidnappers, cop bribes and abusive border crossings would make the marathons more interesting.

Wait the Olympics might come here?  That sounds cool but it will probably suck ass in practice

Tijuana? At least the demonstration sports ought to be interesting.

You would think after his recent ass whipping that ditch weed and cheap tequila would be something he might be interested in

The Tijuana Olympics.  That'll be the day.

Donkey show or ping-pong ball show?

I'd take the cheap tequila but you can keep your ditch weed.

2013-05-01 12:30:46 PM
I think having the Olympics hosted by two countries is a neat idea, but in practice, the boarder crossing seems like it would be too big of a hassle.

That's good though, Pander-American Mitt Romney should feel right at home there since his family roots are in Mexico (but not in filthy Spanish or Native-American blood, thank God!)

Mule races.  Federali Capture the Flag.  Beheading Baseball.  Yeah, yeah, better in Juarez, but these are really national sports nowadays.

Wow. San Diego can stand on its own, but why not partner with LA or something for the bid. TJ is a total shiathole.

Heh SD-Tijuana Olympics. Do it, just keep the winter Olympics the hell out of Colorado.

This is great - when the bid is rejected Republicans can cheer in the streets.

Hey, give him a break.  He's had enough for a while.

cdn.idigitaltimes.com

He just needs to chill a bit on that shiat, get his shiat together, and it'll be like old times.  He'll be back in the saddle soon enough, and when he is make sure to bring better blow next time.  I'm pretty sure that's what did him in.  Let me tell you, when I was riding shotgun on this trip, it was straight-up serious in that Tahoe.  The way he was talkin', I thought he was gonna start going to NA or some shiat.

I really don't get it. I think it would be a bad idea. SD + TJ doesn't seem to have the right facilities for such an event.

Are we supposed to believe that SD doesn't have a stadium good enough for a football team but has facilities enough to hold the Olympics?

The city can't afford to fix pot holes and sidewalk but can afford to host an Olympics?

Everyone could just take the trolley.  It turns out you're not required to be drunk to ride it.

Tijuana has pretty high-tech facilities in their Olympic training center which has already hosted a plethora of world-class competitions. San Diego could be a bit more of an interesting issue though, the city is really spread out so they would have to find a large amount of land to build a large complex in a central location. There is an Olympic training center In San Diego, conveniently located about 15 minutes from the border with Tijuana and 20 from the OTC over there, but unlike its Mexican counterpart it seems designed only for training and not hosting.

Didn't Romney "save" the 2002 Olympics with an ass-ton of federal funds?  Why does he get credit for that?

A) How is this not a photoshop contest?

2) Has their been an Olympics with dual host countries before?

because federal spending is only bad when it's on poors/browns, if you give it to wealthy whites, it's Gods good work.

Filner actualy wanted Romney? I have a hard time thinking that was a genuine ask, because: 1) Filner is a  partisan asshat who doesn't know the first thing about managing a city much less a committee to secure the Olympics 2) See point 1, but also include that he's a douchebag that doesn't give a crap about what the people think

I am also pretty sure that the IOC has already pretty firmly stated that combined bids from separate cities will not be considered.  My guess is that a cross border pairing of cities would be even less likely.

The partisan asshat who never reaches out to the other side, except that he did in this article which shatters your worldview, so you quickly just say "it must not be serious."  Republicans are so over in this city, it's fantastic.

Why would a nice city like San Diego ever want to do that to itself?  Seriously, volunteering to host the Olympics is the municipal equivalent of hosting a high-end wedding for your very worst relatives.

He'll be 77 in 2024. It would be crazy to make him management -- you have no idea what his state will be that far in the future.

The race wouldn't have even gone past the primary if Fletcher and Dumanis hadnt split the vote and forced the run-off. Check the context before declaring a party dead in San Diego. I worked at city hall for a few years, the split in the county is almost even. And do you really think reaching out to Romney is genuine? In fact, this whole idea is ridiculous as the city (which literally just climbed out of a fiscal black hole, but still isn't doing much better) won't see any return on this investment for another 12 years.

Why doesn't FIlner focus on trying to fix the city now, rather than gamble their finances on the future

2013-05-01 02:34:30 PM
No no no no no no no!  A thousand times no! We don't need the Games here and the traffic nightmare that would result would be insane. I guess the locals would do what every other city has done, rent  your place out to tourists and get outta Dodge.  Plus all that talk about border security would go out the window if you had to go back and forth between venues.

There is no need for me to really argue because the Republicans are going to be an afterthought whether you believe me or not, but Republican Party endorsed DeMaio while Fletcher and Dumanis were still credible candidates.  The local crazies have taken over your party and have absolutely no idea how to run elections (*cough*  Tony Krvaric *cough*).  Do you think that Falcouner is going to hang on to his seat now that Ocean Beach is in his district?  The Dems already have a majority on City Council, it will soon be closer to unanimous.  On top of that, the general demographic patterns are heavily in the Democrats' favor.  The writing is on the wall, I don't know what else to tell you
