If everyone had AdBlock Plus so that no ads appeared on facebook and the advertisers knew this, would they stop buying ads and would facebook collapse?

It's quite possible to raise revenue for a website consistently without making its users feel they've been wrung out - after all, sites do provide some value.

Growing that revenue steeply and perpetually to meet screwball investor expectations - now THAT, that can't be done.
