sno man: fatalvenom: sno man:I thought there was some measured renewed love last year, he did show up for one of the Saturday night pre-game ceremonies...

He did that more for you fans than anything.

Keon still hates the team, I feel sorry for the poor guy. Never has one of a team's best players just wanted nothing to do with a franchise.

Though I don't blame him after what he went through. He started watching Bruins games with my father more than a decade ago, and still does.

I was 2 when the Leafs last won the cup, and grew up on the dreck that Ballard was willing to offer up,  Fans of the Leafs old enough to know at least some of the crap, love Keon way more than the team from that time.  Please let him know that, or pass it on to your dad to pass on...  Either way, could you pass on that I personally am/was a huge fan. Nearly as much for his falling out as play with the Leafs.

I might also mention that we are on the third (fourthish) ownership since Ballard, and Bell/Rogers would pretty much suck nasty cork for a winning team, so I'm pretty sure the culture has changed, kinda like there is nothing of the organization he left other than the colours... (as I sit here wearing the retro blue '67 current third jersey)

Oh shut up. The game could have been totally different had the bruin ref ignore the OBVIOUS 5 minute major for Ferences attempt to injure on Grabovsku

S.A.S.Q.U.A.T.C.H.: Still disappointed in that Bergeron non-goal. The fact a referee can reverse a call because they don't want a 5-1 game to open up into a bloodbath because the refs want to wrap things up and get back to the hotel room and sleep before their flight.

All besides the fact a whistle never blew immediatetly after the goal so he clearly "wasn't in the act" as the stupid little rule states. Imagine if in the NFL there was a clause where the referee "meant" to throw a flag but he didn't. so the play is reversed. hockey is the only sport that allows the referees "outs" for calls they should be held responsible for. Does the  farking field goal judge make calls on touchdowns at the other end? do the guys moving the chains on first downs tell the senior referee when he missed a hold? not to compare the great sport of hockey to greasy ol football, but when football's rules are better executed than yours, and your league is say, 100 years old, then yeah, pretty weak.

I understand you want to keep it close so there's no donnybrooks so you can get out of there. But save that bullcrap for PP's and penalties. Have some farking respect for the professional players out there working very hard for those goals. Those points come down to players contracts; careers. You don't alter that shiat because you want to get back to the hotel. besides the bruins cant hold a 2 goal lead to save their life.

selfish by the ref and embarrassing by the league

I'm going back probably 5-10 years since I really asked him his actual opinion on the Leafs, but I was assured at the time it would never change. I'll ask my father to find out for you guys and let you know since I perpetuated such a sore subject.

Nah, save the Mastodon for a game where the goalie actually makes a significant difference. A 5 - 0 blowout isn't that.

Flower did make a difference. Without some clutch saves early in the game the Islanders would have been right in it.

fatalvenom pre-game Sharks/Canucks drunk-update:

Poured another vodka in my giant Bruins Tervis. Hopefully this brings luck to the Sharks.

The stray cat that I give cans of tuna and dry cat food to on a daily basis is sleeping on the hood of my Mustang in the garage.

I'm writing down a reminder in my note calendar to clarify Keon's current feelings about the Leafs for sno man and Flappyhead.

I've gone though about 1/8 of a jar of moonshine in the last two nights, thank god I ordered two this year.

anyhow...

fatalvenom drunk rating: 7/10 (Gingerly climbing, but nothing to raise a stink about. Yet)

Obviously I wasn't in the thread for the game that was relevant to me but...wow. What an embarrassment. I gave up at 4-0 and went to the gym. Just lifeless. I'll have to skip Game 2 since my friend's wedding is at the same time, but the Isles damn well better show a pulse.

mikaloyd: Islanders and Rangers need a better rivalry. Id root for a team with a starting line of Hitler, George Bush, Justn Beiber Bill Belichick, Pronger, and Ontario Lightning as goalie before I ever rooted for the Flyers

Maybe it's only recognized locally, and maybe it's more from us than the Rangers fans, but that shiat gets intense. How you feel about the Flyers, I feel that way about the Rangers. The last regular season game in particular was nuts. I really think that if both teams become consistently good it'll make a huge difference.

In the 80s when the Rangers were making the playoffs off and on while the Isles were contending for the Stanley Cup was perhaps the best time.  The last playoff series between was (appropriately) in '94 and the Rangers swept them.
