Gay sex causes God to be angry, God causes climate change, which forces more women into being prostitutes, which means more straight sex to cancel out the gay sex.

That was kind of a dumb thing to say. You could as easily have said "Global warming causes more burglaries because climate change increases poverty and people are forced into a life of crime." There are a whole slew of consequences to increased poverty and yes, increased prostitution is one of them, but pointing them out one by one because of an ulterior political agenda is fruitless and ultimately deserving of ridicule. Given that the current conservative MO is to pounce upon any misstep and frame it as invalidating the entire progressive agenda, Rep. Lee among others should be more careful what she says. Of course, the same argument could be made about conservative misstatements, but those tend to be along the lines of "women deserve to be raped" or "let's kill all the Mexicans," so there is a slight difference of degree between the two.

I just hit my 200th greenlight about a month ago. It took me about two and a half years to get my 100th and about eight months to get my next hundred. Even though I've benefited, I'd agree with your assessment.

Well, yeah, but there's also a lot of reasons why climate change is bad.

If that whole "liberal media" meme were remotely true, the article would include mention that climate change is widely accepted among the relevant experts, but adamantly denied by conservatives.

Heck, if journos had balls (I know, my aunt etc) every article on climate change would mention that. But somehow  acknowledging facts that would cost the Koch brothers a dent in that twentieth billion they'll make this year means you have a terrible liberal bias.

So, people should stop mentioning all the negative consequences of global climate change? Why? Should instead Democrats simply keep repeating "It'll be bad, trust us"? By pointing out the numerous ramifications, it gives people a better idea of the severity of the situation. That shouldn't stop because the GOP are drooling morons. And as far as making this point as opposed to burglaries:

The document's purpose is to call attention to the ways that women are vulnerable to climate change. In poor and developing countries, it will become more difficult for women to grow and collect food and water for their families. Natural disasters fueled by climate change will force many women and children to become refugees.

If this document's purpose is to describe how it will specifically affect women, why not bring up increased reliance on the sex trade? And caring about what happens to women globally is not an "ulterior political agenda".

Instead of relying solely on prostitution for income, transactional sex provides specific rewards, such as rent or food. It's more of a barter system than a business model.

When politicized demographics are singled out as being disproportionately affected by global events, you can be sure there's an ulterior political agenda driving the reporting.

But the effects aren't universally bad. Because climate is changing all over the world, some areas will become more fertile, while other places will lose their fertility. It doesn't affect every single place the same way, but the overall trend is that our climate is changing in ways that will force humans to adapt and alter their lives, whether on a micro or macro level.

poor people, by the way, are often more negatively effected by events such as war, famine, drought and the like. if they could hop on a gulfstream and fly to their aspen chalets, they wouldn't be poor, now would they.

Helping a specific group is always political. That's extremely cynical, even for the politics tab. Can you give any evidence or reasoning to suggest what that ulterior political agenda may be?

"You can be sure" almost always means "I'm making this up but I feel it in my gut".

Also, I love how "women" are a politicized demographic. If that's the case, then every demographic is politicized, then the phrase "politicized demographic" becomes redundant and useless.

For some people it's going to be good, but for the majority of people, it's going to be bad. This isn't a "who can really say" type situation. Taken as a whole, GCC is not a good thing, and action should be taken to attempt to counteract it in any way we can.
