Still does not negate the simple fact that he might bomb the shiat out of a foreign country

And the second he does send in troops/air support/whatever, the same people burbling on about how he won't go kick ass will be calling him the evilest, most reckless dictator that ever dicked a tater.

Fu*k you guys.

Well actually...that's kind of exactly what it does. He may bomb the shiat out of a foreign country, but unlike his predecessor, he may not.

I am at peace with that.

Current policy:  Why did Damascus get the works?  That's nobody's business but the Turks.

/Chemical weapons: Syria's business.

Saying something might happen is not a fact.   It just isn't.  There is no middle ground.

Uh yeah the Syrian intervention is going to happen, he just needs some time to muster up a few NATO allies and placate China and Russia.

More than 70,000 death and chemical weapons. It's time something is done.

2013-04-30 02:43:02 PM
Oh and to preempt the 'Well, let Israel do something about it!' we just bombed a chemical weapons factory yesterday near Aleppo, special forces are operating, we have stopped chemical and biological weapons from reaching Hizbullah in Lebanon and we've attacked a lot of their anti-air batteries. Most of it at US request.

So, does that mean the U.S. can finally sit out an Israel-driven conflict?

"Act" could mean 1,000 different things. One of those possibilities is bombing the shiat out of them, so I guess that's correct. But it's just as true as "Still does not negate the simple fact he might surrender to Syria" or "Still does not negate the simple fact he might throw pies at Assad until he's so humiliated he gives up." Acknowledging a possible, yet hypothetical, course of action is a poor excuse for a fact.

They used WMDs!! Quick, use the WFDs(Weapons of Freedom Delivery) on them!!

What 'Israel-driven' conflict has ever took an active part of, outside of letting Israel buy ammo?

Car_Ramrod: "Still does not negate the simple fact he might throw pies at Assad until he's so humiliated he gives up."

At first I read this as "Still does not negate the simple fact he might throw ass pies."

It's a simple fact, people.

'Bombing the shiat out of them' would be an upgrade over 'invade and occupy and unending 'democracy building' futility'.

2013-04-30 02:53:15 PM
Good. Verify the hell out of it. And one it checks out, to the point where even Russia basically has to quit whining or look like the biggest asshole on the planet, then we provide air support and maybe a few tactical ground strikes. No invasion, and no selling weapons to the rebels. That place is enough of a clusterfark as it is. We'll probably have to get involved here soon, but no reason to go all in.

That's a tea party compared to what's happening in West Africa, and no one gives a fark.

I'm cool with staying out of this.

So?  Sometimes it's actually necessary.  Almost his entire job is to run the military and other foreign affairs, if things didn't sometimes need bombing we'd just not have a president to begin with.

The fact that "hey, let's manage this with some minimal degree of competence" is a huge step up in US foreign policy and took half a decade to implement sort of tells you all you need to know about 2000-2008's president and the party he left behind in the congresses.

Well, if this were the last admin, they'd be picking out targets in Tunisia.

Three Crooked Squirrels: Muslims can't kill other Muslims.  It's against the tenets of Islam.  It's in the Qur'an.

Al-Qaeda and its allies have a different interpretation that essentially allows them to determine who qualifies as a Muslim.

Seeing as it looks like our choice would be between them and their ilk or Assad, I'm not surprised at all we're not exactly thrilled to be picking either side.

2013-04-30 03:02:05 PM
So when the President asks for an AUMF or a Declaration of War will McConnell filibuster it?

2013-04-30 03:02:45 PM

Dr Dreidel: Well, if this were the last admin, they'd be picking out targets in Tunisia.

I liked how the Czech envoy made a point of confirm the Boston bombers were not from his country with the underlying tone of don't get any invading ideas, you morans.

That's a hell of a lot better than bombing the shiat out of our own country, don't ya think?

I love when people from other countries are so open about wanting Americans to go die in wars.

If getting tangled up in West Africa meant more military aid for Israel, Tats would be the first one beating the drums of war.

cman: Still does not negate the simple fact that he might bomb the shiat out of a foreign country

But it means that if he DOES bomb the shiat out of a foreign country there will have been a reason other than "I felt it in my gut". Whether that reason is enough to justify bombing in your view is another discussion, but Mr. Obama has already shown far more responsibility than his predecessor did when sending our troops into conflict.

Face it. Your guy screwed up, and please, don't waste our time telling us you were the one Republican on Earth who didn't cheer our invasion of Iraq.
