I keep creating sculpture by way of performance art in our living room. I remove my wife's bra and toss it so it comes to rest over a blade of the ceiling fan. She doesn't think it's art, but the cats are always captivated by the bra hanging from the fan.

Granted, my motivations are not purely artistic.

I'd like to hit the beach in one of those old outfits, but only if I can get some of my ridiculous muscleheaded friends to do it with me.  It would almost work, because I see guys riding along the beach walk on those old timey pennyfarthing bicycles all the time.

If it makes anyone feel better, the fantasy of what occurs on a nude beach, and the reality, are two completely different things.  He could just as well be photographing walruses (and probably is).

So for that, I say, let him have his fun.  If he gets off on it, that's his own business.  And so be it.  He's not hurting anyone.

I felt that way going through the Albrecht Durer show in dc last week. It was, without doubt, amazing, but I got the feeling that some of his early etchings with nude females were done in such a way that he would have a good excuse to look at nude females. And given the time and place in which he lived, I say bravo Mr. Durer, bravo.

That is my favorite beach, I try to get there at least once a year.  It is gorgeous.

But don't touch the cliff face.  Human erosion is a big problem.  There are spots where the clay runs into the ocean, play there.

THIS

I'd like to see the actual prints instead of digital thumbnails. I can't say I find his work to be technically good, a lot of the images are very flat, but I'l admit it may be the fact they are digital representation.
The fact that there are a lot of snapshots on his page screams douche though.

I'd kill for a Horseman 8x10 but a good DSLR can give you the same detai level. Looks like they even make a bellows now. That's pretty farking cool.

A good dslr is not even in the same ballpark as the detail an 8x10 piece of film will get you. I would like some of what you are smoking please. My canon 5d m2 doesn't get close to a hasselblad with 100tmax. My blad won't touch the detail from my four by five. And an eight by ten has four times the information that my four by five does. An eight by ten camera has approximately fifty times the detail that the best dslr has.

I'll give you that. compared to 35mm film, the level of detail however in a digital SLR is impressive, on the Pan-X, Techpan range. I used to shoot 2 1/4. Never got to a view camera though. They are still way out of my range.

Film is still superior to digital photography as an art form and a craft. Instagram does not make one a photographer.

You can pick up a crown graphics or the like for usually in the two hundred dollar range on eBay. Give more of a hoot about the lens than the outside of the body. Film though, god, it adds up. I think a box of tri x four by five is probably pushing sixty five, seventy bucks. So around 1.60 bucks a click after the cost of your devoloper, assuming you do it yourself. That being said, the amount it makes you slow down means shooting even twenty shots, is a metric ass ton. And the slowing down is really its finest quality. Thinking about one shot rather than just spraying a burst of shots hoping you get it. That all being said, I think digital has a ton of advantages to it as well. In fact, today I was lamenting that hasselblad discontinued its 503 camera line and is now only digital. Which pissed me off because no manufacturer ever made a true full frame back for their cameras. If I could have a hasselblad back that was full frame, had the speed sensitivity of the new dslrs and I could put it on an old SWC? shiat, that would be it.
