That's what I'm thinking. This lawsuit won't float, so the only way to hurt them is by not purchasing tickets and telling everyone else you know to not purchase tickets.

At least settling a lawsuit will let future passengers know that if the company farks up bad and you suffer for it, they'll pay you in the end. If this gets dismissed, all it's saying is that you're taking ALL of the risk when sailing with Carnival.

Yeah and then they'll knock 5 bucks off their ticket price and fill the ship up no problem at all.

Does anyone know the case number for the class action suit? I tried looking it up on Pacer and I couldn't figure out which one is the one I want.

Well, no. I think Carnival is saying that their Class Action Waiver (section 13 of their ticket terms) governs and disallows the 3000-member class action lawsuit. For the class action law suit, at least, they want to dismiss it and make every plaintiff file individually against them.

Don't know how why they want to dismiss the other two. Would have to read their motions to find out.

Didn't they say, in the news, that everyone got a refund and free ticket for future cruise?? Not sure how much you would want to piss off ALL those people with tickets on a future cruise... a lot of people, strung over a lot of cruises, could do a lot of farking shiat up.

I have been on a bunch of RCCL and one Carnival Cruise.
You get what you pay for.
And more importantly you are surrounded by people who got what the paid for.
Pay more, unless you want to be on a ship with a lot of cheap, fat white people.

2013-04-29 08:02:46 PM
So it seems the passengers were looking for the easy life, but the cruise company thought it was all just a game. And whether you're looking for a midsummer's daydream or just a boy's night out, it's time to fight the good fight when you lay it on the line only to find there's somebody out there looking to rip you off.

If Carnival knowingly put a ship to sea that had the kinds of issues Triumph seemed to have, and it could be proven in a court of law, I would say they have a right to seek some sort of redress beyond what they've received.

The trick is to have each person in the party carry enough booze for EVERYBODY, one will get through and you will still save a shiatload over paying the bar tab.  Buy a unlimited "soda and Juice card" for mixers, then on the last day of the cruise you have to go to the customer service office and have them remove the automatic gratuity from your check.  Its automatic, not mandatory.

You check all of your bags at the dock and they deliver them to the door of your cabin, they open and search some of them on the way, they dont have time to check ALL of them.

They price their drinks and cigarettes as if they have you on a boat in the middle of the ocean and you cant get them from anyone else.  You can literally buy five 1.75L bottles of Yeager, lose four to searches, and still save money.

Personally,  I'd love to see that clause of "no class action lawsuits" invalidated.

just_intonation: Either way, I've decided that my SO and I will *never* cruise on Carnival, no matter what the outcome. Too many bad experiences by family and friends related to me to want to take a chance on it, at least with *my* money.

But they gots Guy Fieri Burger Joints on board!  Name me another cruise line that gots Guy Fieri Burger Joints!

For a minute I really thought they had hired Triumph the Comedy Dog as a stage act and that were the grounds.... oh the name of the ship ...right.

cwolf20: Well, gotta give them credit for truth.. if the passengers buying tickets haven't figured out by now that they're taking their health in their hands with Carnival, then what exactly is the internet good for.

Slandering others anonymously and sharing pornography with one another?

Mostly porn, but there is enough left over for pictures of house cats, and walruses holding buckets.  And securities fraud.

Or you could cruise Disney which lets you carry on as much alcohol as you can fit in your carry on luggage.

I wouldn't say I forgot anything, I would say I divined a surprisingly good use for a jay and  silent bob quote.

RexTalionis: Does anyone know the case number for the class action suit? I tried looking it up on Pacer and I couldn't figure out which one is the one I want.

PACER is federal only.  Since the article is light on ... anything, we don't know if it's even a federal case yet.

Honestly, you'll need AT LEAST a lawyers name or a district that it was filed in to find it.
