If that was me, I'd want them to give me a baseball bat and lock me in a sound proof room with the thief for fifteen minutes.

/So....How'd you get them to approve that charge with my credit history?

2013-04-29 03:32:53 PM
So you've stolen a credit card and decide to spend that money on coffee with the CEO of Apple. Was the thief hoping they could go in place of the true cardholder, or was this a troll trying to use Bill Gates' credit card or something?

What is the most surprising thing for me is why this was the surprise to the credit card company as yes it does seem to be quite the expensive thing at $605,000 but it was also the meeting with Timothy O'Cook and as is known by we everything that is the Apple product is overpriced and the thing upon which causes the sad face of the disappointment.

Now let me say this about the protection of the credit cards.  I have these under seventeen different names but only one of these is the actual card of me.  This is the reason for this and that is that if the individual did the stealing of the card for me to pay for the overpricing meeting with the overrated individual such as Timothy O'Cookingham of the United Kingdom branch of the Apple IIe Computer Company then it would be the 1 in 17 chance that the card they are actually using really was taken out in the name of one of the ten most wanted of the FBI.  Then when the individual is caught for this what will be said by me is PWNED ENJOY THE CELLMATE OF BUBBA JOHNSON OF YOU BIATCHO!

The moral of this is that you should not do the stealing of the credit card because until you use this it is the Throwdingers kitten and is simultaneously the card that will get you the product and the card that will get you the prison and you do not know which this is until you run this through the scanning software.  Will you take the chance with this?  I do not think you should do this of course!

I'm trying to figure out whose card was stolen, there can't be that many people with a limit high enough to process a $605,000 charge.

Maybe an AMEX?  Those work a little differently but it seems like you would still run into problems.

2013-04-29 04:18:06 PM
What I like to know is who has a credit card that anyone can even charge $605K on it?

Even Amex Black has a limit... maybe it's Tim Cook who 'anonymously' bidded to talk to himself to make him look important.. busted!

I assume they put the stock links for companies like Apple (AAPL) inh the article so you can go buy or sell stock on a whim. In other news, Apple's stock rose about ten points today.

This is one step away from the regular "typo on bill for extreme amount of money" articles.
Like when AT&T sends a bill for $650 million.

Or, the people who notice their checking balance is $100 million more than it should be and then withdraw the max cash amount from the ATM every day for a month -- and are SHOCKED the bank eventually noticed.

There was never any charge.  New bid was listed immediately.  An authorization for $605K was attempted later and declined.  Listed high bid was dropped back to $600K.

"The company's promotional material describes centurion members as "super-affluent high net worth individuals on a continual quest for the best and most exclusive. They own companies and frequently travel. Exceptionally discerning and style-conscious, they live vicariously through themselves. Centurion members are global players who gain truly worldwide access to the inaccessible."

Plus, whoever used the card appears to have known the limit (or at least how low to stay).

My theory is that the guy wanted the lunch, put it on his own damn card,
then reported it stolen to avoid paying the bill.

/someone charged $10k worth of Apple gear on my Wells Fargo Visa a few months ago.  The funniest charges were the 1 dollar app store purchases

I do. You never know what life will throw at you and raising the limit is free.

Also, your credit score includes (among many things) what percentage of your available credit you actually use. A higher limit means a lower % utilization. I know, it seems ass backwards as a person with a crazy high limit could hurt themselves pretty badly, but credit scoring doesn't always make sense.

I wonder what Tim Cook would yak about that's worth so much to someone. I mean, there's only gonna be a few minutes of togetherness. If you had a real deal in the works, he (or his people) would just do the deal already, I'd assume. And if you already have that much cash, then you've got your own thing going anyway. If you're lookibg for interesting company go hang out with Ringo Starr or Martin Scorsese instead. Or better yet, any of those chicks from Spring break would spend a month with you for far far less.
