ordering by phone is much quicker, but so as not to feel like an old fart, i order online

2013-04-29 03:23:17 PM
So? They already have an app (iPhone & Android) for ordering...

2013-04-29 04:07:51 PM
Is this a repeat? I think it's a repeat.

And you can't order it while you game (have to exit and go to dashboard), so it may be more work than just using the phone/internet.

At least Pizza Hut has given consistently good service from their online system.

I ordered from Dime'a'hoes and got a Diet Pepsi instead of regular, two garlic sauces instead of one marinara and one bbq, and a cheese pizza instead of a half-hawaiian. Two pizzas were delivered correctly. Delivery guy says, "We're out of a lot of stuff." My response, "So you didn't think to call me to ask what I choose instead of giving me stuff I can't eat?" Delivery guy: "Oh, that's a good idea!"

*facepalm*

Only if the person on the other end speaks English.

I think it is.  Fark's been spewing out so many repeats of late that I can't tell what is and what isn't anymore.

Anyone who orders from Pizza Hut deserves what they get.

/seriously, calling that stuff 'pizza' is an insult to real pizza.

Really?  Half-assed, overpriced pizza?  If I'm going to order some, it's not going to be either Domino's, Little Ceasar's OR Pizza Hut.

I saw on Reddit that this was already on Fark.

/also saw it posted on XBOX that Reddit says that Fark's repeating it

True but, in theory, ordering online guarantees the boobs on the other end get your order right.

Eh... they could still read the order wrong, but yeah, it gets rid of the "lost in translation" aspect. I like that my local pizza places have online ordering, often with things like "order more than $15, get free breadsticks" or something. Helps even more since they have some thick accents.

Lotta damn haters around here. Pizza Hut really isn't that bad at all. Sure as shiat better than frozen, and most places that do have better, more home made type pizza aren't going to deliver to my lazy ass.

800 Microsoft Points(tm) for one large pizza with two toppings.
80 Microsoft Points(tm) for each additional topping.
400 Microsoft Points(tm) for the topping bundle with exclusive Canadian Bacon not available elsewhere.
4000 Microsoft Points(tm) for the Pizza Hut Season Pass which provides access to all toppings.

No one would say ordering by phone is quicker than clicking on a couple of checkboxes and hitting submit.

/and there is nothing I enjoy more than repeating my order for the sixth time to the 16 year old who you can't hear you because of all the background noise

2013-04-29 05:19:58 PM
They did this years ago (2005) on EverQuest 2 with the "/pizza" command. There was slightly more outrage than praise, and the promotion was only scheduled to run for a short time. I used it once, but all it did was open the pizza hut online order page in a browser window. Since I ran the game in fullscreen, it minimized my game window, which crashed when I tried to bring it back up. It was easier and faster to just order on the phone or on my second computer.

Japan did it better. You can have Miku dance on your pizza with an augmented reality app.

Now I can not order Pizza Hut on my Xbox as well.

Definitely the worst of the major chains, by far.  When Yum bought them out they went downhill fast and continue to do so, just like Yum's' other restaurants, KFC and Taco Bell.

2013-04-29 05:53:29 PM
Stupid and insulting.

2013-04-29 06:21:44 PM
REM A bit offtopic

Upon further examination, I feel I must remark that the Xbox pizza hut app interface is actually a *good* example of Microsoft's Metro UI. In this case, for this app, It is way more user friendly than their website, or a ton of non-Metro restaurant apps I have seen on other devices. It's even more user friendly than their take home menus. That being said, I liked the Metro UI when Hulu adopted it, and it's working out for my Outlook so far. These are exceptions, though, it has been a pain in other ways.

Pizza Hut makes the worst pizza ever. Totino's pisses all over Pizza Hut. It's barely food

if pizza hut, domino's, taco bell, mcdonald's et al were so bad, why is there one of them on every street corner

They also have phone numbers. So you can call them.

One thing I give them props for is their new Pizza Semi Truck kitchen.

When Microsoft launched this xbox pizza software, they had the kitchen truck show up at campus (according to the Major Nelson podcast). Apparently that rig can cook 4,000 slices an hour - which works out to be about 8 1/2 pizzas cooked per minute.

<CSB>

I used to use my computer to order pizza sometime around 1994 or so...  I had just moved across town, and noticed that the local pizza joint had a fax number... So.. I whipped up a document, and used my faxmodem to send it.. That was the fastest pizza delivery I've ever gotten.. I swear, it took 15 minutes from fax to my door.. They must have thought I was a business, so large tip or something..

I had a few documents ready with my favorites. WHen friends would come over, I would turn around to the computer, press a few buttons, and 15 minutes later, pizza. My friends thought I was a wizard.

/queue "are you a wizard?" pic.

Because they are cheap, and scientifcally designed and specifically engineered to light up the pleasure centers of your brain like a christmas tree? Salt, sugar, fat.

And they offer instant gratification from purchasing something, which is an extra chemical boost.  Plus they're effortless, and cheap.  And the ubiquity means you can go to one 5000 miles from home and order the same thing, and get the same thing, as you always would, so there's a routine familiarity to it. Safety.

I beg to differ. There are some pretty good frozen pies out there (I like the Digiorno Garlic Bread Pizza, as an example).

Pizza Hut has cardboard crust, tasteless sauce (little / no spices), plastic cheese, and way too many of their toppings are fake, esp. the 'meat' toppings.

Domino's comes in for a lot of crap, but they did go through a good faith effort to listen to people and improve the product. They might still be not the best pizza around, but for my money, they did make it better, and I would buy it.

Pizza Hut, on the other hand, has no clue as to how to improve their product. Rather than make a decent pizza, all they can do is to try a new gimmick every week.

'Stuffed crust pizza'; 'Hot dog stuffed crust'; 'Tear off bread bites around the crust', etc., etc. ad infinitum. No other chain engages in stunts like this, to anything like this extent.

Pizza Hut has to because they have to distract customers from the fact that they got nothin'.

(In our area, we also have a lot of good local Mom 'n Pop shops that deliver. Valentino's has a 20", and they make their own sauce fresh every day. It is to die for.)

This is Fark, you're not allowed to like anything popular, you're only allowed to like obscure shiat that nobody but you and 1 other person has heard of.

What I don't get is why this is considered lazy but having a phone with hundreds of apps that do everything imaginable makes you smart and hip.

So does this require XBox Live Gold like every other damn thing? The fact that I have to pay for the privilege to use Netflix on a box that should have absolutely 0 reason to be communicating with XBox Live drives me up the wall.

I see the food hipsters are out in force to sneer at Pizza Hut because it's not some little hole-in-the-wall place that only 12 people have ever heard of.

Fark 'em.  Pizza Hut isn't bad. Pizza Hut delivery satisfied my hunger on many days when I was too lazy (or hungover) to go out for pizza.
