Hey, i noticed that guy was a dickbag while he was still AG and had his office investigate people who said mean things about him on Twitter.

The guy is so much of an asshole, he made me vote for Dan Onorato.

I figured that out when he said that charging gas companies more for fracking would cause them to close up shop and move else where.
You don't invest a couple $100 million with potential to make $billions and then say forget it.
Meanwhile his campaign fund took in $tens of thousands from those same companies.

This.  I don't think they could have dug up a more lackluster candidate.  Remember a few weeks before the election when he ran that commercial to remind us what his farking name actually was?  Sadly, at that point he probably needed to do it.

So what are you saying? That we should not care about such things? If we know about it we just turn away, not have an opinion or thoughts about it?

No, I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying that the political reality in this nation is VERY depressing.

Fast Eddie had his issues, but all in all he wasn't terrible.  He did inflict those horrible in-store wine vending machines on us, but he only did that so one of his campaign contributors could sell a worthless wine kiosk to various supermarkets at $500k a pop.  With taxpayer subsidies, naturally...

As I always tried to explain to people, Rendell was good for the state because he the people's interests first, his own interests second, and business' interests third.

Corbett has business' interests first, his own interests second, and the interests of the people of the commonwealth trailing at a distant sixteenth.

Even the right-wingers are looking at his plans to sell off the lottery and the liquor stores and going 'WTF'? Getting rid of a profitable entity makes no sense, and despite the many jokes about PA's liquor laws there are a lot of people that are happy with their local store.

That's what it is. It's not that I disagreed with him politically, I just literally "didn't like his face." Superficial, sure, but that was it. Also, he came off as if he was some kind of a mobster or something.

Selling off public entities to your donors, corporate sponsors and buddies has been the GOP way of doing business since 2010. In Ohio, Johnny K. realized that people hate his guts, so he actually deferred the Turnpike and the Liquor stores. Mainly because the JobsOhio clusterfark is landing his shady, slimy ass into so much trouble.

He had a frustrating habit of trying to funnel money out of the "T" to Pittsburg and especially Philadelphia.

That said, if anyone is surprised that Corbett turned out to be a stooge of the gas-drilling companies, they shouldn't be allowed to vote again.

Well, he had to be reminded of who is actually paying his bribes.
That would be who ever made a DA disappear and told the Gov. to STFU about it.

I'm constantly amazed when republican voters are shocked (SHOCKED) that the people they elect are assholes.

Fark 'em. I'm firmly in the camp that any state (including my own NC) needs to suffer, and suffer mightily, for voting this teabagging cocksuckers into office. The only way idiot redneck crackers learn ANYTHING is to get it beat into them.

tl;dr - Fark you. I got mine. Let Ohio, Wisconsin, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and North Carolina burn for a decade or so.

Except that the liquor monopoly isn't profitable as it costs the state millions in revenue each year on account of people buying their booze in DE and NJ.
The few thousand people who work for the state liquor stores are always put up as pawns when the fact remains that there's more than enough jobs for them and others if private state and beer stores are allowed to exist.  Hell, make it a requirement that any liquor store hire 50% of its staff from state stores as a function of retaining its permit to sell retail alcohol.

There's 48 states which have normal liquor laws.  PA is an outlier with Utah.  Something is not right here...

There are other states with wonky liquor laws. Maryland, at least Garret county has no Sunday alcohol sales of any kind. West Virginia has no Sunday alcohol sales before 1PM, I believe that's statewide. As of maybe a decade ago or so, beer distributors can be open Sundays, and most opt to do so. Still can't buy a car in PA on a Sunday, as far as I know. Blue laws are a strange anachronism.

New Jersey has sort of weird laws too.  They're better than PA but not much.
