Surely there must be another NFL team willing to sign a proven winning QB.  Your only risk is that your current #1 QB becomes totally mind-farked having His Tebowness shadowing him.

C'mon, Oakland!

I want to see Timmy walk in there all smiling and holy... and fall from grace by the Hall of Fame game. All tatted up, smoking weed publicly. I think the Raiders could pull this off.

They ain't gonna sign him. They already have that slot filled in Denard Robinson.

/And yes, I know he ain't playin' QB in the NFL.

They may not sign him, but don't put it past the Jets to sign Tebow.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Good Luck in your career as an evangelical preacher and motivational speaker, Mr. Tebow.

That will be his eventual gig but I think one more team in the NFL will give him a shot.
As Gonz already mentioned, Oakland seems to be the team most likely to hire him.
They're the only ones more desperate than the Jets.

I wish I had that kid's work ethic. Then again, I'd like to think I would put it to use in some field where I could succeed. But, I'd love to have that sort of discipline.

Hell, his season will have no end, and neither will SportsCenter's coverage of him.  I swear, more air time has been devoted to him and the Lakers this past year than ever I thought humanly possible.  Nuke them both from orbit!

He's such a hard worker that he hasn't improved his game at all.  He's such a hard worker that he's a one-dimensional player.  He works so much harder holding that clipboard than all of the guys on special teams who are out there shortening their lives in garbage time.  He works so hard!

I wonder how many lame "[insert name of team] should sign Tebow and play him at tight end!" blog posts we'll see in the next few days.

Because it's just so easy to switch a player to a position he's never played before.  Especially at the NFL level.

You're both fools then. Oakland traded for Flynn, drafted Wilson and still has Pryor on the roster. They may bring in another arm for camp but the word "arm" rules out Tebow right off the bat. Reggie McKenzie is no idiot and as much as fark loves to bag on the Raiders personell moves I'm afraid Al Davis is gone and there is a real GM in charge now. As for Gonz, once again you've mistaken Oakland for Cincinnati. See in Oak Town it's the fans that are the criminals.

Glad to see the whole Tebow saga end unless some other team wants a built in media distraction with no desire to play anything but a position he is terrible at. Don't get me wrong, I've said all along he is a good enough guy but he was never going to be a good fit in the NFL. I honestly wish him well in wherever his post-football life takes him.

Former UK quarterback Randall Cobb is rather amused by this.

Tebow was completely overrated - mediocre at best. No amount of prayer was going to help.

He was better at playing the media than he was playing football. Timmy knew he appealed to both the Bible Thumpers and the Butt Thumpers (NTTAWWT) , and milked it for all it was worth.

Thinking down the list of 31 other franchises....I can't actually even think of ONE at this point that would seem to have even a tiny reason to sign Teblow.

No, the Raiders amplify whatever is already there into something grotesque. He'd end up quitting football to join the Phelps clan at funerals if he went there.

Jacksonville has a reason. And it's a pretty damn good one, actually. It just has nothing at all to do with winning NFL games.

Well the only one that could possibly have anything to gain from it would be Jacksonville, who might get a few more butts in the seats with the hometown kid, and they've already ruled it out so, yea game over I think. Still ya never know.

"We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow," coach Rex Ryan said. "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped."

Ryan is a lying dirtbag. This is what happens when your daddies contacts gets you a job you're not qualified to be in.

Does "putting butts in seats and inviting attention to the franchise for any reason whatsoever" count as a reason?

If so, get ready for Cowboy Timmy. Jerry Jones would love that marketing angle.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean they'll tank the season to get Johnny Manziel in next year's draft, or that they'll tank the season to get Teddy Bridgewater in next year's draft?

Hey.

HEY.

McElroy isn't that bad. He actually seemed fairly decent. Don't be a blind hater, yo.

I could see him getting a near-league minimum salary playing in a special teams role.  You'd have to give him an 80-something number, call him a tight end, and have him cover kicks, hold for the kicker, be personal protector, and sub in as a 4th receiver on occasion.  If you do that, he could be effective.  You'd also have to have a coach ballsy enough to call fakes more than once a season.

If there's even a tiny hint that he could possibly be a quarterback, adding him would hurt the team way more than it would help.

Butts in the seats, Florida fans will still pay to see him play then blame the coach for the losses.

I think Tebow got a raw deal. He was good in college, and while I don't think he's ready for prime time  he could be under the right program with some development. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats sign him.

2013-04-29 10:40:45 AM
I expect a massive bidding war for this raw talent.
