Well, apparently, 30 minutes is the limit at which you can hang suspended by your hair.

2013-04-29 11:51:02 AM
That IS a heart-stopping stunt to witness, let alone perform.

2013-04-29 11:59:02 AM
That had a crap payoff.  I don't want bad things to happen but if you insist on dying doing something like this you gotta give me show.

FlashHarry: wait - he died of a heart attack?

Yea, the 'obvious' tag made it sound like he died the obvious way, by gravity (or accidental scalping). This is more of a 'weird' or 'strange' tag.

Actually dying while zip lining but not from falling would be Ironic

"He could have pulled the train further, but we did not allow him," said Subrata Nath of the heritage Darjeeling toy train company.

Mr Roy said he had been planning to pull the train with his hair for more than a year.

How much hair did he have left after all this?

Witnesses said that Mr Roy appeared to make no progress after covering about 300ft (90m).

"He was desperately trying to move forward. He was trying to scream out some instruction. But no one could follow what he was saying. After struggling for 30 minutes he became still," said Balai Sutradhar, a photographer, who was covering the stunt.

"Elm beef!?" "Lend me towel?!"

"He's clearly not making any sense, so in the absence of being able to discern his exact words, let's just stand here for half an hour and see what he does next"

No, zip lining away from a burning building but losing moment half way down, then going hand to hand back to your start point but slipping, landing on a trampoline, flying in the air, bumping your head on a passing passenger plane, landing on the roof of a "Buffalo Wild Wings", falling off the building, rolling into an open manhole cover, being attacked by a sewer gator, killing it, making boots from its hide, crawling out of the sewer and straight into the doors of a prestigious university, earning a law degree, getting married, raising a family, and dying at the age of 94 by chocking on an expired tube of Gogurt would be ironic.

At 48 that's very possible.

Ummm..
1) detach safety tether from behind jammed pulley
2) clip it on ahead of the pulley
3) unhook or cut hair
4) pulled to safety

So he's up there screaming for more than 5 minutes after stalling? How stupid are people to just sit there and watch this man die? Seriously? What did the witnesses think? "Oh, he's just milking the suspense here".  Idiots.

Pro tip: always have somebody with brains enough to get you to safety if something goes wrong during your stunt.

I'm guessing that most of the people watching this stunt were only there in the off-chance that he plummeted into the sea

The thing is, did he really never think "Ok, so on the offchance that something stops me before I get to the end of the zip line, what am I going to do that prevents me hanging by my hair over a river until I die?"

My impression after RTFA was that he was an idiot and didn't have anyone there to help him in case of trouble and nothing got done for 30 minutes because nobody had any way to help him. I'm reading between the lines though.
