I remember reading speculation that he had somehow broken the "no flying airplanes at the children" clause of the divorce agreement. Did we ever get any more info on that? How did this article manage to not include that?

Link to WaPo saying article alleging that he broke the no airplanes at the children rule.

What's the likelihood that he'll actually win this? I'm directing this question towards people in SC specifically

I dunno. Recent polls have had Colbert Busch several points ahead of him, and the Cook Political Report has moved it from "Lean Rep" to "Lean Dem" over the last two weeks.

That's not what polling says, and he manages to screw up everything in every way every time he speaks to anyone. I think Colbert Busch is looking pretty good for this one. Yes, even though off year elections are rough on Dems.

He was the conservative governor of South Carolina who was found in dereliction of duty for like a week because he was off schtupping his mistress. When caught, he proferred the excuse that he was hiking the Appalachian Trail, which is now an awesome euphemism for dirty, adulterous sex with your mistress.

Maybe this is some kind of "Producers"-like ploy, where Sanford is purposely trying to fail in order to cash in campaign contributions?

I've often said there's a sizable group of people who would vote for Ronald McDonald if he had the correct (R) or (D) in front of his name.

Mark Sanford is the proof.

Spray paint and plywood.

fitsnews.com

At first we thought it was just a local grass-roots approach, people making their own cheap signs, but then it gradually dawned on us that it's a larger attempt, playing on Sanford's ability to do things very cheaply.  There's a guy who lives around the corner from me who makes them for the campaign, and has a truckload of them at any given time, ready to be sent out and put up.

Most people like Ms. Colbert-Busch, and I do know several Republicans who plan to vote for her just because of the distaste they have for Sanford.  However, I've also heard plenty of Democrats express indignation that she's backed away from her support of unions and homosexual agendas.  It's like they're mad that she's trying to be more moderate...

Oh, I'm not saying it's going to be a runaway victory for Colbert Busch. I'm simply saying it's a lot closer than people are making it out to be. Remember, Martha Coakley lost to Scott Brown in a state that hasn't voted for the GOP presidential candidate since Saint Reagan (PBHN).

Republican jesussssss powers sometimes interfere. It's why the Democrats are our preferred stooges. Their weak and effete wills are easier to break.

Not that it matters. We shall devour you all in good time.

I would like to point out that Democratic Rep. Clyburn has done quite well in the area, that Charleston voted for Obama, and that the CIty of Charleston (which has *never* elected a Republican Mayor) currently has Democrat Joe Riley serving his 10th term.

Granted, Democrats in the South used to be extremely racist, but they still vote heavily Democrat around here.

On their last filings Colbert-Busch had roughly three times the war chest as Sanford*, while Sanford had slightly more cash on hand. Sanford also lost his NRCC backing. Even if Colbert-Busch (which is probably not going to happen) loses she turned a district that voted for Romney by 18 points on its head.

Plus Colbert-Busch has some minor league PACs on her side running the angle that Mark Sanford left his post, which is iffy except that they are getting a retired Colonel from the SC National Guard to come out and say it and in a region that is full of military it can be a pretty damning force multiplier. While thus far Sanford's only real retort has been that Colbert-Busch took $30,000 in donations from unions that work in the Charleston area.

*This is mainly due to her having very large fundraisers with her brother in New York, Washington, and Charleston.

This is the former governed of South Carolina.

The one who went AWOL from his state (without putting the lieutenant governor in charge) to, as he claimed, 'Hike the Appalachian trail'.

Which actually meant "Fly to argentina to bang his mistress."

So, to make a long explanation short, yes. You are exactly correct.

Or almost like they have convictions, based on a set of virtues arrived at through moral consideration, which they hold to be important enough to transcend a low-brow comedy of errors masquerading as an election.
