They should start out on the Porche. "That's right. Sit on the Porche and watch your daddy drive his Ferrari"

I let my neighbor drive my Conquest TSI when he was about 12 yrs old.  I let him sit on my lap and I shifted.  No, I do not like little boys, I was just the teaching him how to drive and I had full control of the gas and brakes.  I would of let him drive it was auto, as I did when I was 12-13 years old.  The earlier you start the better you become.  I actually have no problem of what this guy did.

I miss my TSI

I couldn't agree more. It helps you get used to it and you're probably a safer, more well-adjusted driver for it in the long run.

I feel sorry for kids here in Spain who have never been behind the wheel and they end up paying thousands for driving school and lessons. It seems whack to me. You end up paying just to gain experience and they release you into the wild city streets still afraid and unsure of your abilities. They make you put a little green "Learner" placard on the back of your car for the first year you drive, too. It's just sad.

Heh, if you're that rich you should of hired a private road for the kid to drive on.   It's only public highways that the laws apply to, not private courses/driveways/etc.

I think the violation was endangering a minor, can't do that on private property either.

The sad thing is that I was driving when I was 9 also, at least around my parents gas station moving cars and such. Rebuilt my first engine at 11, old 65 ford 352 Windsore. Hunted birds and squirrels with a .22 when I turned 6. I suppose more population required more care, but seems that there are too many bleeding hearts not minding their own business these days wanting the government to step in and mind ours.

Not that hard to understand. He made a video of his child performing an action that the authorities consider child endangerment. It doesn't matter where the action was performed and he gave them all the evidence they needed. The charge against him was child endangerment, not a traffic citation. If you duct tape your child's face and put it on you tube then you will be charged with child endangerment too, in your own house. (previous FARK article some months ago).

Not sure why my statement could even remotely elicit a "huh?".

What are the laws as to driving there and how old do you have to be?  Are you overstating costs about driving schools?  I seriously never knew of this.  Is it difficult to get a license there and must you take required classes first?

Don't worry, comprehension fail on my part. I thought you were implying that it's not (legally) possible to endanger the welfare of a child on private property.

You have to be 16 for 50cc mopeds. Anything above that you have to be 18, including cars. I'm not overstating the costs of driving school. You pay about 450-700 euros for matriculation and classes (in the classroom). Then you have to pay to take the test. That's 87 euros. You can fail it once and take it again for free. After that, you have to keep paying to take it.

Then you go on to hands-on lessons in the car with the teacher. You take as many as you need, but at least a few are mandatory. They can cost anywhere around 40 or 50 euros each. Then you have to take the test and pay for that as well.

I got my motorcycle license here since my American license isn't valid here at all and it's too expensive to park and maintain a car. With the motorcycle test you have to do circuit lessons which are 35 apiece and then you pass a 60-euro test. Then you can start taking street lessons, which are 50 euros apiece. Test is 60.

Your American passport is good for 90 days of hassle-free driving. After that, you have to go to driving school. I've been here 6 years.

No, they booked him on both counts; violation of the motor vehicles act was one of the charges.

All of the people saying they were driving a car since they were x years old...Were you driving a car with the same amount of horsepower or more than this Ferrari?  I would imagine that a slight increase in pressure on that throttle would send a Ferrari screaming down that "private" road.

What does the child do when the car starts accelerating at a high speed from simply pushing a little more on the throttle?  My guess is the child either panics and turns the wheel sending the car off the road or he freezes up sending the car off the road.

Anyone see seat belts on either of these children?

or.. properly trained since so young does not panic in the slightest

Adults that have been driving for over 20 years do that now.

Video games are the difference.

I, for one, would suggest setting the "valet" mode to limit performance.
Tames the exotics right down.
