It's not a dick move. It's a business, if they thought they could get something for him you keep him around. That kind of stuff happens all the time in professional sports, the only reason they are pissed now is because it was their marketing tool. Tebow made ESPN money.

Not to worry, he's a man, he's a real football player, a specimen really.  Someone is bound to snatch him up and make him a starter, hell, they'd be stupid to leave such a star of this caliber un signed.

The dick move was the owner bringing him in just to grab some headlines, when his head coach did not want him at all and then refused to give him any kind of chance/playing time. Also pretty dick-ish to wait until after the draft to cut him loose, especially when you had 3 other QB's on roster even before.

This. While people are laughing at the Jets, calling them a Circus, the Jets have just released their Special Ops. The release of Tebow will have fans for every other team demanding the signing of him. Mark my words, 30 GM heads will roll for not signing him. That is the Jets thinking anyway.

As a Jets fan I liked Tebow, but the guy couldn't play, and the day I get all butthurt because of how a millionaire gets cut by a professional sports team is day I punch myself in the face until I stop having such stupid ideas.

Tebow made the Jets a ton of money too. He's sold more jerseys than any other player. Same will be true for whichever team picks him up this year

Lost Thought 00: Tebow made the Jets a ton of money too. He's sold more jerseys than any other player. Same will be true for whichever team picks him up this year

Exactly. I went to bar for the first game last season. Sitting next to me was two Jets "fans" in Tebow jerseys at $100 a piece. Everyone made money here. Tebow got paid, the Jets got paid, and ESPN got paid. Anyone that complains about "it being a dick move" needs to look at their own pay stub and then do some reflecting.

Conversation I had with a co-worker before hearing about Tebow's release (which I hope works like the release in The Giver for any of you who remember your teenage literature).

"So the Jets have six quarterbacks." "Yup."
"And maybe two of them are mediocre to the point where they wouldn't be the worst in the league." [beat] "Yup."
"It's like they're putting up a big ol' sign: 'Don't bother rooting for us. We don't deserve it.' " [longer beat] "Yup."

Yet it's still less pathetic than riding Tim Tebow's dick. Is Tebow a passionate lover? I bet he gives away his love freely.  When you wake up does he look deeply into your eyes and tell you how beautiful you look in the morning, even though you know your hair looks terrible?

Someone should take that video, walk into ESPN's boardroom, punch Norby Williamson in the face and scream at them to watch the tape and fix their worthless piece of shiat highlight shows.  THAT video was why we watched ESPN; not Skip Feckless or "Who's Next" or any other bullshiat.

I still don't understand why the Jets never played him. Sure, he's not a good QB, but he's better than Mark "52 turnovers the past two years/Buttfumble" Sanchez. Hell, I also don't know why they let Sanchez play last year. I'm going to stop typing things I don't understand about the Jets QB situation.

Because he's not as good as Sanchez.  Make no mistake, Sanchez is bad.  He's about a 6.3 on the Jamarcus Russell scale, just a shade below Carson Palmer.  Tebow is awful.  You can't even put him in as a backup, because he can't operate effectively in any normal offense.  The only QBs he can effectively work behind would be someone like Michael Vick - a run first, throw second QB.  There's no market for someone who's an above average runner with a slow throwing motion, slow decision making, and poor accuracy.

I'll take it from here: Rex Ryan wants his teams to be based on a power running game and a dominant defense. His QB really just needs to be a game manager, hand off a lot, and not make stupid mistakes.

If you look down the Jets' QB depth chart, you eventually get to Greg McElroy. Here's a kid whose college life- his "job training", as it were- was serving as Nick Saban's QB at Alabama. Saban wants to win with a power running game and dominant defense...

...You all get where I'm going with this, right?

Averaging 26 turnovers/season the past two seasons is far, far, far worse than being an above-average runner with a slow throwing motion, slow decision making, and poor accuracy.

I'd disagree, but there's definitely a good argument there.  My point is that you can't build an offense around Tebow.  He's a one-trick pony with no expandable skills.  At least with Sanchez, you can build a game plan and complete, workable offense (which he'll screw up), but it works well once you put a competent QB in Sanchez's place.  With Tebow, you can't slot him in any normal offense, he can't backup a normal QB, no one can replace him even if you made it function.

Adapting an offense to Tebow, even temporarily, actually degrades a team for the future.

I don't think Rex does; the running game has been regressing since he's been there.
