AGremlin: Get smarter friends.
Adolf Oliver Nipples: Done in one.Incidentally, I love the "new" convention of putting "checked on Snopes.com!" in the spam to try to keep people from actually checking. I know people have been doing it for a long time, but it's been making a comeback recently.

Dear Jerk: AGremlin: Get smarter friends.Do you really want to isolate yourself from the stupidity that drives public opinion?
BumpInTheNight: Call them out on every stupid-ass parrot post on facebook that is easily debunked by googling the topic. You may lose a friend or two, but its better then being friends with a moron./Repost this now and win a chance at 50 googlian dollars, and a free ipad.

catmandu: The recent ones telling you to dial 112 to contact local police
ko_kyi: DNRTFA, I am busy looking for baking soda and Hydrogen Peroxide so I can make a Mt. Dew glow bottle.
justoneznot: How to steal all your material from Lifehacker (or any other site) and get hits, and feel like it's okay because you linked back to them.
generallyso: Every hoax you debunk is simply a symptom of the person's underlying mindset and no number of debunkings is going to affect their mindset. It's a hopeless effort.
J. Frank Parnell: Remember kids: the only truth there is, is what the TV says. Never think for yourself.I know that's not exactly what the article says, but it does suggest you should only be suspicious of things said by people who aren't on TV. You should be fact checking everything you hear. Even what the talking heads on TV say.
jaytkay: catmandu: The recent ones telling you to dial 112 to contact local policeI received that one. It made no sense at all. A fake cop supposedly raped some girl. Would the rapist intercept a call to 911?
JerkStore: There's actually a phenomenon that if someone believes something that's not true, the more you try to debunk it, the more fervently they cling to their incorrect beliefs. I'm sure there's a technical name for it that someone will post here shortly, and I find the concept fascinating. It's almost as if people would rather be stupid than wrong.I suppose it's how you explain birthers, the Jesus-rode-dinosaurs kooks, the global warming deniers, and the conspiracy geeks.
moothemagiccow: People would rather post something first than give any thought to its accuracy or presentation. If it sounds right, it doesn't need to be right. Everyone's in such a hurry to be wrong.
