. . . and Zack Greinke choked on vomit.   Wasn't his vomit though.  Never found out whose vomit it was.  You can't exactly dust for vomit.

Los Angeles is going through some sort of supernatural injury curse or something.

Lakers: Kobe, Nash, World Peace, Blake, etc.
Dodgers: Grienke, Billingsly, Ramirez, Ellis, a bunch of minor league pitchers, etc.
Galaxy: Donovan, Keane, Cudicini, Dunivant, and a host of others (of course, they still won, on the road)
Kings: Somehow, the hockey team is intact, except Matt Greene (day to day)

Of course, if Greinke hadn't gotten in that brawl with Captain Hit-Me, he might not be on said DL.

You can blame the damned Padres for Greinke being out.

It's the Clippers' fault. None of this crap happened when they were losing (like they're supposed to).

/listening to the Dodgers-Brrrs game right now

I'd suggest borrowing a QB from the Jets but none of them can throw.

And, yea, the Clippers are relatively healthy for once.  The whole injury vortex has been pushed off the Clippers, so now every other team gets its share of what the Clippers have been dealing with since forever

To be fair, not every one of those players is an everyday players, but it does show the scale of the injury problem when 1/3-1/2 of your salary is unable to play.  Hopefully the injury bug moves on to greener pastures.  It is a long season and it may be better to get the injuries out of the way early rather than get hit with the bug during a playoff run.  Sure all games count, but it always feels more dramatic to get hit with injuries come August or September instead of April.

Hey, Dodgers fans, don't worry, you still have Josh Beckett!

(pauses, considers)

Nah, you're screwed unless you want to know where the nearest Popeye's is.

I assure you, the math works out the same. The salaries the Dodgers are paying their disabled players exceeds the entire payroll of the Miami Marlins.

What do players do in the off season to maintain their fitness? Are they contractually obligated to work out? If not, is that a contributing factor to injuries early in the season?

"gotten in" that brawl?  What fight did you watch?  I saw a juvenile douchebag charge the mound and tackle a guy.

/hate the dodgers too

Yeesh, and I thought last year's Jays had bad luck with injuries.
