I'm guessing 7 gets The Curse of Fenric or Remembrance of the Daleks.

/Either way, Ace.

Curse of Fenric has already been edited into movie form with new special effects (IIRC) for DVD, so that does seem the most likely choice.

Dungeons and Dragons (I somehow ended up with all 3 (?) of them on DVD).

You know, for someone who is going to be eighty-years-old next year, Tom Baker is hold up pretty damn well.
He sounds exactly the same as he did forty years ago and he seems to have pretty much the same personality.  Cool.

At six episodes, Talons of Weng Chiang was probably too long for the two hour slot BBCA schedules these in, and they probably figure people won't have the attention span for a three hour story.

Doesn't the whole Sutekh storyline completely ten-car-pileup with the whole Ice Warriors storyline? They both couldn't have been on Mars and neither knew about the other, could they?

Sure they could.   Ancient artifacts being unknown alien resting places is a genre staple, and Who has used this many times.

I recall reading an entry at Tom Baker's blog about how he and Anthony Hopkins would go out dining together (both were members of the Royal Shakespeare Company at the time) and talking about how 13 proof wine is far better in red sauce than mere ten per cent.

Just the idea of the 4th Doctor dining with Hannibal Lecter is far too much WOO for my imagination.

I feel bad for whomever has to pick the "definitive" story from the Colin Baker era. What a huge sewage pool of runny wet sh*t to wade through.

And the Sylvester McCoy stuff? I just know that they're gonna ignore "Remembrance of the Daleks" and pick "The Greatest Show In The Galaxy" instead (which was like something they fished out of the dumpster behind the offices of 2000AD.

Oh, and to keep the "Doctors as fantasy characters" micro-meme going......

Netflix Canada has Tomb of the Cybermen.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at fifty cent budgets.

Case in point:  Large dude is fighting the Cybermen Controller, they grapple, go offscreen, Large dude comes back holding Controller over his head, which is clearly a dummy, hurls it on the control console, which you can tell especially that it's a dummy as the head comes off, it slumps to the ground, next shot is the Controller lying on his stomach, intact.

I laughed for ten minutes during that.

For MCoy's stuff, I'm thinking they'll go for 'Time and the Rani'.

It really is his only classic episode isn't it?

Should do The Two Doctors just for some extra bonus Troughton.  It was terrible but hey, Troughton.

Revelation of the Daleks would be tolerable I suppose.

But watch them do The Twin Dilemma.

Wearily, I agree with you. Gone, forever it seems, are the days of multiple-episode story arcs. Unless it's The Doctor mithering on about the latest most special gal pal ever, stories are neatly wrapped up in an hour, including commercials. Pivotal characters are not given enough time to be developed, leading the viewer not to care about their fate as much, if at all.

Pyramids of Mars did have some cheesiness to it; the much-maligned chromakey for one. However it was a pretty good story, complete with ciffhanger, and you got Mr Bronson thrown in, too.

I guess there really is no choice for the 8th is there?   Eric Roberts on BBC.   Who would've thunk it.

Yes, which means they'll show some shiat like Delta and the Bannerman or The Happiness Patrol instead, when most people would be happy to watch either the Rani or Remembrance.

It's the only logical choice.

It's the one Baker 2 serial that lived up to the promise of the ending of Caves of Androzani.

Hey, now... I liked Six. I first got into the show with Six, and then went back and watched others.

And Peri didn't hurt things, either. She stuck with Six for most of his run, despite the fact that he constantly yelled at her, and began their relationship by choking the crap out of her.

Sutekh himself was never on Mars. The power source for the device keeping him imprisoned WAS, that's why they used the TARDIS to go there. Scarman was in Egypt when he found Sutekh's "tomb" and got zapped.

Oh, I always thought Pyramids of Mars was one of the great old scary ones.  Mainly because the existence of life itself seemed to be at stake.
