Frederick: I've seen a few YouTube videos of this dude and his friends.  He's got a strong sense of right and wrong, but it's hard to condone what he's doing.  He has no authority; no mandate.  I want to wish him well but mostly I just hope he doesnt get hurt.

For those not following along at home, the SPD has a serious, serious problem that is nation wide. They've been making headlines for acting like the LAPD. Severe racism, killing unarmed civilians, police brutality, and "losing" key evidence. They farked up the WTO riots, the Mardi Gras riots, and the May Day riots. They've been investigated by the DOJ, and they just lost their chief. SPD is a farking mess.

I've read a little about Phoenix Jones. He obviously does have some level of police support, as evidenced by this video. Tune in around 5:55 if you're TL:DR. If he and his buddies are dong what the police will not do, and if they aren't subject to a DOJ investigation, more power to them.

I've got a strong sense of right and wrong.  Lots of people have a strong sense of right and wrong.  I am terrified of people who have a strong sense of right and wrong, who have the strength to impose their view of things, and no higher authority to restrain or direct them.

I want to move to Seattle and become a supervillian. This guy needs a nemesis. I could jaywalk and litter and leave riddles behind.

Sure, they all seem harmless at first. But before you know it, they're destroying New York to stop World War 3.

Since when do civilians need a mandate or authority to act when they see a crime being committed in a public place? If the guy was kicking in doors and going after people, you'd have a point.

Popcorn Johnny: Medic Zero: As if. You think the police wouldn't have tazered the shiat out of someone they saw attacking the Federal Building?

A handful of police against a violent mob? I think they would have stood there watching.

It wasn't a violent mob. The main protest, which wasn't violent anyway, had moved on. There were like three people breaking windows and maybe a dozen watching. If the police can't handle that little they should all be fired for being even more useless than I thought they were.

Wolfman Johnny: I'm not really seeing anything about a mob assault on the Federal Court House building in Seattle. Seems like that would be wiki worthy even if it didn't make the news.

Like two or three people tried to break windows. I don't even think it was the Federal Court House but the damned Federal Post Office building anyway. There was a crowd of maybe a dozen other people watching curiously, maybe two or three of them were associated with the window breakers. Most of the other protesters had already moved to another area. After farkclown and a sidekick showed up the people breaking windows moved down the street to break other windows. He really showed them!

Maybe you need to, it happened just like he said. The police weren't doing anything to stop protesters, so they did.

No, if I remember correctly the police were elsewhere at that time not: '  "The police had to stand down and were not allowed to do anything. We didn't stand down and we did something. We will act," Jones said.  '

As if. You think the police wouldn't have tazered the shiat out of someone they saw attacking the Federal Building?

Also, the first I've heard of this firebomb or explosive or whatever he was calling it is from Phoenix Jones, a washed up attention whore. If someone had tossed a molotov cocktail or some other explosive at the Federal Building we'd all know about it.

This! People could be technically in the right, but still totally mismanage a situation because some people can't see beyond being right. They are right, you are wrong, you are the enemy by all accounts.

Jones and his small band of caped crusaders repelled the advancing anarchists,

They walked up and looked tough as the bloc was already moving on and the courthouse's windows were already smashed. Superpig fail.

"If we see something, we're gonna go into the crowd, find the guy that did it and hold him down until the police show up, and get our asses beat"

Phoenix Jones is a total jackass.

Also, I don't recall any of the below happening the way they state it, and I happened to be in front of the TV when it all happened live on the noon news.

""Someone threw something that exploded and it caught fire in front of the court house," he recalled. "That's when knew this is it. We can't retreat."

Jones jumped into action last May Day as anarchist rioters tried to storm the old Federal Court House. Jones and his small band of caped crusaders repelled the advancing anarchists, and he said he'll do it again.

"The police had to stand down and were not allowed to do anything. We didn't stand down and we did something. We will act," Jones said.  "

None of it happened like that. Watch the video.

It's odd how something that looks so badass in comics can look so laughably ridiculous in real life.

buntz: Also, just sort of walking down the street in sneakers saying "How ya doin'?" to passersby isn't exactly 'badass' superhero-y

I think he toned the bad-ass angle after he got busted for the pepper spray incident.

Fact is Fodor's a clown and Seattle (and our media) has a love of clowns.

Yeah, you don't see the goddam Batman going around shaking hands.
