Also, this idea is not new, 'manties' have been around for a while. This stuff just looks better made.

Doesn't bother me. Sounds awesome. Everyone should wear whatever the fark they feel comfortable in. But I hang out with a bunch of weirdos, so. This seems totally normal to me.

/just hung out with my guy friend who hosts Rocky Horror earlier tonight. he looks way better in lady clothes than most ladies.

You might be gay.

Why would a gay man like someone that dresses in women's clothing? Just can't figure these things out.

This is a real thing. A friend of mine (not code for me) got into a relationship with one of these guys. Of course he doesn't drop this bomb on her lap until 6 months in. It caused alot of problems for him, including the break up of his first marriage (which had produced a daughter). It ended up contributing to the break up with my friend because it weirded her out. He showed her his drawer of women's underwear. She said it was huge and filled to the brim with frilly bullshiat. He also was a hardcore collector of woman's fashion magazines and only watched lesbian porn. He had posters of "strong" female sci fi characters all over his house. Despite apparently being terrified of male sexuality, he was 100% heterosexual. Very strange and kind of sad.

It's more of a thing than people like to talk about - there are a lot of people who do that as part of a BDSM relationship with a male submissive, both gay and straight. Emasculation and humiliation play into it pretty hardcore as a motivation for doing so.

six months in sounds about right. More than that, and it's fair to say that this person was wasting their time when they could have been looking for someone they were more compatible with. If you whip it out on the first date, then it just shows that you're incapable of being at all self-critical, and are unaware of how others might see your kink as kinda weird, so you wait a couple of months to build a certain base-line of trust.

If your friend wasn't into that kinda thing, cool she should thank him for not getting any more committed and giving her the opportunity to go look for others, but if she went and blabbed about it to other people (e.g. you) rather than keep his kink private then that kinda makes her the coont in that situation IMHO.

This may not be an appropriate discussion for a first date, but it really is the sort of thing you ought to tell someone before you have sex with them.

Considering 90% of women are not going to be cool with this, I would argue 6 months is about 5 months too long. She's a single mom approaching 30. Six months is a long time for her to have wasted.

You can't invade someone's life with this kind of dark secret and expect them to shoulder your burden by themselves and not seek outside advice. I'm sorry, that's bullshiat. This isn't AA. If you want to dump problems on someone with the expectation of privacy get a therapist. She would have been a coont if she went and blabbed to his friends, but she didn't.

Well I got no skin in that game, so I'm not really going to get upset about it either way, but just from a purely academiv POV, I really don't see it the same way as you.

LiberalEastCoastElitist: Considering 90% of women are not going to be cool with this

citation needed. We have no way of knowing even approximately how many women would be ok with humouring their partner in something like this. There are, of course, some fetishes that go too far (like, "I wanna smear feces all over you while you whip me with this leather mace.", etc. etc.) but this one seems pretty harmless.

LiberalEastCoastElitist: I would argue 6 months is about 5 months too long. She's a single mom approaching 30. Six months is a long time for her to have wasted.

Well yeah, age is a factor. Did she clearly say she wanted to get serious and settle down? If so, maybe 6 months is a little on the long side, but I've definitely had 1- or 2-month relationships with people that I never divulged my deepest personal secrets to, and I'm glad I didn't.

LiberalEastCoastElitist: You can't invade someone's life with this kind of dark secret and expect them to shoulder your burden by themselves

edmo: Lingerie has to be girly? Couldn't they work in a camo motif and Craftsman, NAPA, or Bass Pro Shops logos or something?

And make it out of the nicer fabrics that are used in women's underwear instead of the cheap, rough stuff that seems to be all they use in men's undies. I'm thinking the feel of the fabric plays a big role in why men play dress up. And honestly, don't we all feel sexier and more confident when we're wearing exceptionally comfortable unders?

swingerofbirches: I think most of the opposition has to do with the aesthetics of the male bulge more than the underwear itself. That's why dancers wear dance belts. Makes everything symmetrical and less human. But why are humans so human? To me the penis and balls on a man (and I say this as a man) just look so appendage like. Like they were stuck on as an afterthought. There's not even a great place for them between the legs. They're just sort of there, always a bit in the way. The human body somehow looks less "organic" and natural than other animals when both are in the nude. With a nice pair of slacks I think we compare nicely to bears though, for example. I'm not a prude, but I generally can't think of a time where I find a man more attractive without clothes than with clothes, even a bathing suit.

All that stuff is weird because our upright posture is a perversion of a tetrapod skeleton. It's like trying to build a submarine out of train cars; yeah, you could get it to work but it's gonna look weird as hell doing so.

Curiously, we are one of the few animals where the male is less gaudy than the female. Didn't always used to be that way.  Back in the day, men would "doll" themselves up: wigs, face powder, codpieces, flamboyant and colorful clothing.... ALL to attract women. Styles change. Deal with it.

Gotta agree with ya. There are many fine designs in nature.

1) yup 6 months for fetish dropping is bullshiat. but how are you in a relationship for 6 months and dont already suspect something?
2) you have been in a relationship for 6 months. WHY would this be such a show stopper? If THIS was enough to end the relationship, clearly it was on its last legs to start with.
3) ALOT is a mythical creature which you can get printed on t-shirts
4) This did not cause his first marriage to fail. His hiding it from his wife and her freaking out ended the marriage.
5) terrified of male sexuality - yah, there is something else going on there.

You don't understand. It's a paraphilia. It's a lifestyle and a core personality trait. You don't just humor it. Look at the fact that he's had multiple relationships fall apart due to this issue. The panties thing is the tip of the iceburg. He started asking for things from her which turned her off to him. She tried dealing with it at first and failed.

Whoa -"invade someone's life"?  I don't get that, man. You're saying he should have told her sooner, and now you're saying he "invaded her life" by telling her?

He invaded her life by developing a relationship with her for 6 months while leaving out a VERY pertinent very likely deal breaker. That is shiatty.

Of course we did, because its uncomfortable as fark. If he wants to find someone who won't laugh at him, maybe he should direct his attention to a kink website or something rather than snaring randoms and wasting their time. And let me tell you right now, all women (and men) talk about what goes on in the bedroom. That's just a fact of life. If that bothers you, use your hand. If you want to expose your dirty secrets in privacy, use a therapist.

LiberalEastCoastElitist: The panties thing is the tip of the iceburg. He started asking for things from her which turned her off to him. She tried dealing with it at first and failed.

No fault at that point. He has a kink that she can't get into, so they split up and go their separate ways to look for someone that they could be compatible with. As it should be.

LiberalEastCoastElitist: He invaded her life by developing a relationship with her for 6 months while leaving out a VERY pertinent very likely deal breaker. That is shiatty.

He told her before they got married, before they had kids together, before they bought a house together with a mortgage in both their names, before they had entangled their lives to the point that it would be a huge awful mess to split up. She wan't cool with it, so they split. He did exactly what he should do. If she's pissed off about spending six months with somebody in a relationship that didn't last, then she's being awfully petty.

LiberalEastCoastElitist:  If he wants to find someone who won't laugh at him, maybe he should direct his attention to a kink website or something rather than snaring randoms and wasting their time. Do you think that maybe there's a reason he doesn't just go around telling everyone that he dates for a month? Seriously dude, It's because of people like you that so many people repress their kinky weird fetishes most of their lives only to have it come out (inevitably) in a big messy divorce. If people could be confident that when they talk to their partners and ask for discretion, that their partners will actually honour their privacy, then there'd be a lot fewer families getting split up in divorces years after they married, and a lot more people who broke up early and managed to find someone else they were compatible with.

Instead of thanking the guy for avoiding that collosal train-wreck, you and his ex are snarking and laughing about him behind his back, thus making it ever-more difficult for other kinky people to just be honest with their partners.

sudo give me more cowbell: I'm imagining the two of you probably had some disparaging laughs at his expense.

that's the point man. You think the appropriate disclosure time is one-month. I think people don't really have a chance to know and trust each other by that point, and that disclosure at six-months is not unreasonable (and I'll agree that more than that would be stretching it.)

But people just aren't going to come out and be honest if they feel like they're going to be ridiculed for it.
