That was almost a waste of time except for the fact I can now tell people to bite-me in Klingon.

I don't get it. What's the connection between the quintessential 90's pop-rock hit "Kiss Me" and Star Trek?

I guess it fits, considering that my understanding of the Klingon 'culture' is that biting someone indicates you want to fark them.

Marginally related, I saw Sixpence in concert back before the got famous for "Kiss Me." It was probably the weirdest concert I'd been to. Aside from the fact that a large Baptist church with pews isn't really the right ambiance for a band that seemed more suited for a small bar, the band seemed like they'd never been in front of more than 15 people before (which doesn't seem possible, considering that by that point they'd toured with 10,000 Maniacs). The weirdest bit though, is that most of the people I knew who were at the concert were into decidedly harder music, hadn't really heard Sixpence before, but I think thought it was going to be something they could mosh to. Seeing a bunch of grunge kiddies trying to mosh to Sixpence None the Richer was quite the sight.

/Their pre-Kiss Me stuff is actually pretty good

Saw them a couple of times at The New Union in the Twin Cities.  Got to meet them the second time.  Lean and Matt are both really nice.  I've got a couple of Matt's picks in my music memorabilia stuff.  They were a really unique band music wise - Matt used a Fender Strat 12 for much of the shows.  The later show was when the album with "Kiss Me" on it was just coming out, and the song hadn't hit big.  The one she sings in Spanish was all kinds of cool live though.

I really liked the music on their "This Beautiful Mess" album, that's the one they were promoting when I saw them in concert. Somewhere I have the cassette tape autographed by most of them.

I saw them in concert in 1996, they had just put out their self-titled album and it would be about four years before they hit it big. My hipster claim to fame.

I've since become an atheist, but I still love that album. There's nothing God-bothery about it - it's about the frustrations of a rough career. I find it easy to relate.

And on a personal note, "I Won't Stay Long" / "Love" is an amazing way to describe clinical depression, especially seasonal affect disorder. (Possibly cutting too if you take the lyrics literally, but I wouldn't know about that.)

"Kiss Me" was put in there to keep it from being a complete downer of an album and the "There She Goes" cover was a clever way of sneaking it under the radar. It's quintessentially '90s, the underrated kid sister of Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead.

No but they might as well be.
Reeze Fubar the genre jumping hair farmer and OLD (not Ol') Wilhelm Soccer Dad aka Feeb Leeb sure can crank out the laxative for Nettwank recurdz.

Not exactly Christian rawk, but a  whole career of repetitive and derivative gravy baiting music, the worst of which being the ENIGMA knockoffs, sure don't make them good.

VERDICT?

just as bad as Christian rawk.
Delerium...LOL

What's missed is this song is played when the hapless human is turned into a true Klingon Warrior by taking off her glasses and undoing her hairclip.
