Based on Eric Stolz's reaction to Vincent telling him about his keyed car, just the fake incredulity, I always thought it would have been funny if when they were looking for the medical book they would pass by a set of car keys with red paint flakes on them.

I wonder what shape its in, and wasn't Tarantino living with his mother when they started filming Pulp Fiction, did he own it before filming began?

I'd also like to add that this is a total waste of police resources.

I cant believe Oakland still has police.

Well, seeing as how Tarantino's insurance company at the time of the theft is the legal owner of the unit...

He said car keys, not lens flares.

That's weird. I had this scene in my head for no reason at all, about an hour ago.

The Iron duke: I wonder what shape its in, and wasn't Tarantino living with his mother when they started filming Pulp Fiction, did he own it before filming began?

He could have bought it after Pulp Fiction came out. It's likely that his production company still had the name and number of the owner.

I remember a magazine cover with him standing next to it. It was a pretty badass car back then.

Thats possible, but it was stolen while movie was still in production..Which can mean a wide range of time, even post. I figured that he bought it with front end money with the idea of keeping it. Or not..I'll Google later to find out..Did it have a 396 ci ?  Pricey car today.

What I love most about that scene is that a hit man and a heroin dealer are sitting around talking about how wrong and immoral it is to key someone's car.

Because, obviously, what they do is A-OK.

I always figured Butch keyed the car after their "Punchy" encounter at the club.

I always thought it'd be funny if they had made the movie with animated clay puppets and in space with a talking duck and a......

well, they didn't.

I think they go out of their way to show Butch as a man of principles (rescuing Wallace) and a respecter of vehicles (it's not a motorcycle, baby, it's a chopper).  Convenient fit with the timing in the movie, though.  Hmmmmmmmm....

Which they used in Tarantino's segment of the movie Four Rooms. I found that to be the most painful scene, not because the guy gets his finger chopped off, but because Tarantino just cannot act. Terrible actor.

:)

On another note, what would be the odds of the police worrying about returning the vehicle to its original owner if this wasn't a famous person? I figure they'd be far more likely to send it to impound and sell it in their next auction.

He shot an unarmed guy (granted the guy was there to kill him). I wouldn't put it past him to key the same guy's car for calling him punchy.
