Proving that I know way to much about this shiat: black bats were not uncommon in the teens and twenties. Hack Wilson and Babe Ruth both used them occasionally.

Wonder what the philosophy was behind it from the players standpoint. Or if it was a trademark for a specific manufacturer.

It's a shame the shortstop was lynched for stealing second.

So these would have been the guys who would have limited Babe Ruth to 125 career homers, 15 pitching wins, and maybe one World Series appearance?

That's a popular, PC thing to say, but that doesn't make it any kind of true.

I don't think it is popular to say that some random plantation workers from that particular plantation would have limited babe ruth to 125 homers. But insinuating that those were the best black athletes of the era is awesome, Mr Bigot McRacistpants.

And yet, they won't re-release "Song of the South" because it shows black plantation workers as being too happy.

I was just thinking it looked the same as some of the skin tones, and could be more like Black Betsy.

I don't think they would have called themselves African American in 1919.

Fake. Everyone knows the first black baseball player was Jackie Robinson and he didn't play until 1962 or sometime.
