David Allan Coe is a racist dirtbag, but I dig his rendition of the song.

Is it just me or have there been an inordinately large number of Mental Floss articles greenlit lately?

"Poor old Johnnie Ray sounded sad upon the radio / He moved a million hearts in mono"

Wait, wrong guy.

Did they throw a Fark Party with free booze too?

On Christmas Day, backstage before a show, Johnny was drinking and messing around with the gun. Once again he dry fired at Thornton. She started yelling at him. He said, "It's okay, there's nothing in it, look . . " pointed it at his head and fired the fatal shot.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.  Any ass that dry-fires a gun at someone for fun on multiple occasions, fark him, that's what.

Also, you carried a .22 Johnny?  Not even a .25 or a .32?  Between the caliber and the way he acted with it, you can tell no one taught him dick about guns.

Dry-firing at a woman?  Man, there's a metaphor in there somewhere.  Also, it's a good thing he didn't shoot her pinky toe off.

And an even better song about the late, great Johnny Ace, courtesy of Dave Alvin:

I actually just picked up a vinyl copy of his "Memorial Album" record a couple of weeks ago. Hell of a story behind that one.
