JohnBigBootay: doglover: I still don't get it."I'm gonna do things I like, for charity."How does that raise money? While this is a cool thing he did and i take my hat off to the guy, I'm sort of with you. What started off as a cool way to donate to a cause and promote healthy activities has become a fairly large tax. I now have about a zillion friends and family members who do these things now and it's becoming this substantial almost monthly expense these days. I like to exercise and go hiking too, I just don't have the balls to ask other people to give money away when I do it.
dletter: doglover: I still don't get it."I'm gonna do things I like, for charity."How does that raise money?Because you get people to donate $x/per mile you ran. Now, why those people just don't donate the money anyway because it is for a good cause, and this guy can go run 100 miles in a day if he wants on his own, I cannot exactly explain that human phenomenon. I guess it is a "this guy is doing something because he feels for this cause, so, I'll donate because of it". Seems to me thought to be not much more than a "here trained pig, do a trick for me" type of thing. I mean, great, the guy is obviously in great shape to run 75+ miles.... but, again, why don't you just donate some money to these victims anyway, even if this guy doesn't run 75 miles.
dletter: As you can see, I agree. I get the "entry fee" for charity for a race YOU are participating in .... you are paying for the "experience", usually some swag, and getting "officially timed" for the distance. But, this whole "give these people money and I'll go walk 5 miles".... what does one really have to do with the other, other than "feely goody" stuff.... how about just give me money because the thing it is going to needs it?
skinink: That's pretty awesome. But even as a person in Boston, I think just as must has to be done for all that happened in West, Texas

Uzzah: If that is what I think it is ... oh dear god. Makes my taint hurt just thinking about it.
dookdookdook: Yay free market!
