"..his neck twisted at an odd angle, with his mouth and eyes open."

"All he did was go to sleep. That's it."

Right. That's how most people drift into a peaceful sleep.

Sure sounds cruel and unusual.  He was suffering so greatly, he was barely able to be a smart ass one last time.

Do you know what is "wow"?

The Texas DoC electric bill when sparky was around

Did his victims suffer?  Hell Yes.  Let's think about them before we think about this killer.

Nikki Daniels, 29, who was raped and shot during the 2002 attack but survived to testify against Cobb, said, "I thought he was going to be remorseful, I thought he was going to be apologetic, was hoping that he was going to address me.

You thought wrong, and maybe this will teach you not to by so presumptuous.

I get the impression that the father wanted to see him suffer more.  That's kind of shiatty.

Closure is such a meaningless term.  Nothing GIVES closure, and this proves that.  The guy died, but he died in an unsatisfying way that just reminded his victim's family of what they lost.  I don't know why our society won't recognize the need for revenge is a sick compulsion that bars actual healing.  Letting the victim's family watch the execution is wrong.

So death isn't enough anymore? Yes, I know this guy has a real piece of work, but what alternatives do we have? Do we, as society, sink to their level of depravity in order to extract a satisfying vengeance? Should we return to torture as a punitive tool?

I don't care about your moral objections to it, nor do I care if it's more expensive than putting him in a cage for the rest of his life. He deserved to die, and he's gone.

If we wanted to kill our prisoners humanely, we would deprive them of oxygen slowly and let them pass out from hypoxia.

They'd never even realize anything was wrong. Completely painless. Just a sense of confusion, then you get tired, then nothing.

The death penalty is about punishment though, and there is a belief that punishment has to hurt to be feared.

Lethal injection is unreliable, cannot be administered by a doctor! and is known to be quite painful.

Electrocution takes many minutes.

well, who wouldn't like to see their own execution? Especially if it goes wrong. Shiat, If I murdered and raped some blonde white chick and her blonde white friends, I'd love to see my/their faces when the first attempt went awry.

I am at times very sad and angry with myself because sometimes, SOMETIMES that's exactly what I want.  The thought doesn't stay long, and I know it's wrong and I don't advocate it, but sometimes, yes I think we should.

Richard Cobb, 29, didn't deny using a 20-gauge shotgun to kill Kenneth Vandever

Is it irony when a murdered laments that life is too short?

You may feel differently about that if you were unjustly sentenced to death by the state. Buying a lottery ticket is a choice. Being executed as an innocent man is out of your hands.

I say we revert to some old school capital punishment.  In every jail, we line one of the solitary confinement rooms completely airtight with shatterproof glass.  The night of your execution, you're sealed into the room, and the room is blacked out and carbon monoxide is pumped in, two days later, vents are opened into the room and the contents are fully incinerated.  One the third day, we open the door, and if your god saved you, you're free to go.
