Slipping out of the first round is the best thing for Manti. The further away he gets from the spotlight the better. If he's even more lucky, he'll go to a small market team that the national media doesn't care about, and quietly slip into a productive role.

He can be a good player, it's just no team wants to deal with the PR headache and distractions that would be associated with taking him.

Talk about the Lions snagging him. After a 'WHY?!' I hope they show an empty chair briefly before going to him.

He also needs to put on 20 or 30 Lbs

Which is also true for about 90% of the players drafted.

Manti "Catfish" Teo.  A bottom fisher.  How low will he go in the NFL draft?

Maurice Clarett didn't get away from it as a 3rd-rounder.

That, and the fact that a TE will pull the 'I got your nose!' trick and befuddle him.

So a man walks into a bar, and sits down. He starts a conversation with an old guy next to him. The old guy has obviously had a few. He says to the man:

"You see that dock out there? Built it myself, hand crafted each piece, and it's the best dock in town! But do they call me "McGregor the dock builder"? No! And you see that bridge over there? I built that, took me two months, through rain, sleet and scoarching weather, but do they call me "McGregor the bridge builder"? No! And you see that pier over there, I built that, best pier in the county! But do they call me "McGregor the pier builder"? No!"

The old guy looks around, and makes sure that nobody is listening, and leans to the man, and he says:
"but you fark one sheep..."

Well, Clarett was a criminal so.........

He wasn't even the best player on ND's defense.

Couple a Notre Dame hei$man campaign with ESPN's love for all thing Irish, and what you've got is a media darling.

The girlfriend story is a footnote as a player.  He was all hype.  I'm not sure why people were surprised when Alabama made him look like the quite average player (and probably nice guy) that he is.

4th rounder, maybe?

Read similar joke in last night's Fark thread. Thought it sounded Onioney.

Except with Te'o the hope is that he'd  fall to the third round where expectations would be less. Clarett was not expected to be drafted at all, or perhaps in the late rounds at best. Instead he went third round so expectations were much higher than perhaps they should have been for a guy who hadn't practiced in a year or played a game in two years. Plus he was a criminal.

Apparently The Madden curse was so afraid of Megatron it started picking on defensive players considered for the Heisman.

Or go wherever Tim Tebow winds u, because Tebow will get the majority of the attention.

Hmm... an ND player that is overrated and underperformed?

What does an old, generic joke have to do with the Draft?

But he's bizzaro Tebow. He'll be the first to come out as gay.

He's slow and undersized, there's no worse LB to pick to play behind a wide 9.  So naturally the lions will take him.

Maybe getting a high profile guy like Te'o will help draw more fans, the team's been threatening to move to Mississippi.

They always had that guy but got rid of him recently in favor of a new coach.
