double loss for the vending company. people won't buy a soda because he has removed the front ones and buyers will get nothing except for getting to watch the arm twist. the machine is basically out of order or has customers that will be pissed at the company.

Over engineered to hell.  I could do the job must faster with a much simpler mechanical device.  Hell, my first design would basically be a string lasso connected to a bent up coat hanger.

I don't speak French, but I didn't notice anything about the robot that would warm the soda to the proper serving temperature. So I'm gonna have to call this an EPIC FAIL.

That good and all but this frog is about to see his 500 dollar investment not recoup anything since a gendarme is going to beat his ass the moment someone hears a loud whirring and some dude with a remote in front of a vending machine. Just inject the hacking plasmid, fool.

He's French. He should strap two of these together. You know, just in case war breaks out.

You'd think so. But eventually the vending company catches on and puts the machine in a steel cage.  It's generally preferable to fly under the radar.

My way does it better because it gives you all the money in the machine as well.

My solution uses one brick.

It's just a mislabelled image, I'd imagine. True M-80s are the iconic red-covered ones about the same size, although they did get the "fuse in the middle" right. But the warning label indicates it's a smoke bomb that just looks vaguely similar. It says smoke, not "start to smoke" like a lit fuse warning, and a relatively recent appearance coupled with english-language-only fireworks warnings says it's probably a legal US firework so it can't be a true M-80.

Fun fact from wiki, though : a true m-80 is basically all powder, no plaster. That has to be a hell of a nice bang..

If you are going to be a petty thief why not simply pry open the machine and steal all the change. Carrying around the change will then be much more convenient and flexible than lugging around that shiatty-ass robot.

Or simply learn to pick locks.

All this video really proves is that he can design the worst solution to a simple problem and that he is a petty thief.

Where do you live that there are CAKE VENDING MACHINES???

When I was a kid, this type of vending machine was vulnerable to a bottle opener and a cup.

i1.squidoocdn.com

Just pull the bottle forward, open it and let it pour. Two thirds of a bottle is better than no soda.

Yes and no. After being sued over and over again for tip overs and dealing with vandalism to the machines by those who paid for an item that ended up getting stuck, vending machine manufacturers started installing sensors that detect if a product dropped or not. If the spindle spins and no product drops, it'll spin it a bit more. After a few more turns, if still nothing drops, it refunds your money or asks you to make another selection. Once in a while I end up getting two for the price of one this way because the first item doesn't drop and in the process of trying to make it drop, it spins a bit too far and drops two of the item. It's mostly an issue of how the person filling the machine placed the items. Of course there are still older machines out there without the drop sensor but they're becoming less common.

But you are correct that an empty space at the front of a slot will discourage potential customers from using the machine.  In this video it's not a big deal since there are other slots but if he stole from the front of all of them (or all of one product type), it would be an issue.

It's a neat robot he's built. Too bad he didn't put his skills to better use even if this is simply a proof of concept hobbyist robot. Maybe as an encore he can make a robot that will pick up things dropped through storm grates. Probably could make a much better return from that.

Anyone who uses "Coke" as a generic name for any soft drink is seriously, literally, farking, retarded.
