I think the best is "Police Search for Teen's Rapist"...."Don't you wish you were a kid again?"

See, it's funny because people under the age of 18 literally have no idea whatsoever what paper is.

Is it just me, or is the Parents 'starved 7-yr-old to death' one more sad than funny?

(And yet, I don't have any issues with all other ones about death and molestation... I guess it's the picture that gets me)

I know, Welcome to Fark and all, but still...

I have no idea why, but number 18 made coffee spray out of my nose.  I don't even drink coffee!

Haw.
The last paper I worked at, we couldn't allow a Japanese car ad to run opposite any story about World War II, especially if the article was about the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Apparently, there's still some butthurt there.

Not a layout thing, but I did paste-up for a local daily when I was finishing J-school. I stopped the following headline from being printed:

Volunteers needed to help rape victims

It took the editor a while to understand what was wrong with it.

The title of the magazine is apparently "Where" but her head is covering the "e" so it looks like "Whore".

The name of the magazine is "Where"

But with her head in the way, the 1st 'e' looks more like an 'o'

#20 is the same, but more noticeable, probably because of how the lady is dressed :)

I didn't get it either until #20. I guess the unintended meaning was clearer with the woman in #20.

Did anyone mention yet that her head is blocking the E and making it look like Whore? Just making sure.

the "Rapefruit" headline is from my university's daily, and let me assure you, it is an awful periodical. I do not believe it is edited.

It'd probably be less ambiguous if it said "Volunteers needed to help victims of rape."

There's your clue.  Now think about it.

Most college newspapers are barely written at all. Asking them to edit as well would be like asking a marmoset  to drive to the store and pick up groceries.

In Number 11, the first example with the dummy headline, several names (or maybe it was one name multiples times) were redacted in the sports story. Why? Nothing there was embarrassing or compromising, that I could see.

What are we going to do, track this person down, call him anonymously and say "Ha, ha, I saw your name on the INTERNET!!!"
