I love that picture, but it always makes me want to cry.

I_fling_poo:
Same here.

I have wondered about that picture many, many times and have also wondered
how everything worked out with that kitten.

I wonder, too.  Poor thing.

A couple of years back, I took in one that someone must have dumped in the alley.  She was skin, bones and infections.  The vet pulled a few teeth.  The photo shows how she's missing part of her tail, too.  She had more hair than the one in the photo, but was still missing about 30% of her coat.  Though someone had socialized her because she loves people.

This is how it turned out:

See, she has to lay on my stumpy legs and Hobbit feet.

There isn't always a happy ending.

New kittens!

I discussed them a couple of days ago in a TFD thread and promised to get up photos for Caturday.

The story:

On Monday evening, a tenant told us that he heard kittens in his wall.  Sure enough, two kittens were in there.  We think they had been born or put into the attic and then had fallen down between the studs and couldn't get out.  Their mama was nowhere to be found.

So me and my Dad cut a hole in the wall and then made a loop of wire which was attached to the end of a stick to fish them out.  They're about three weeks old and we were really worried about the B&W guy, since one of his eyed was crusted shut with dirt and mucus.  We put warm water on that and cleaned his eye with a damp rag, and also antibacterial drops.  By morning, his eye had opened and it looks normal.  The remaining crust came off in the bath the next day - both were filthy.  They haven't been to the vet yet, but both appear 100% and are big eaters.

Lucky kitties.  They took the bath pretty well and both are friendly.  We're keeping them inside a utility room for now - plenty of shelter, food and water.  Plus a cozy bed and a couple of toys they're not interested in yet.  Both come right over to you, love to be held and petted, and purr a lot.  They might get adopted by family friends, but if not, we'll keep them.  They're going to make really nice pets.

And might as well round things up with the Usual Suspects.  I haven't put them up here for a few weeks.

I need that.  Three.  was a not so fun day today.

I had a call from a coworker in Seattle.  he tells me that he had dinner with the client and she commented about me.  Seems she heard that one of her employees was talking to me and he told her that 'she had 3 glasses of wine'.    well, excuse me.  I am AT HOME....it is my house, it is my free time, I will have a glass of wine on MY TIME.  I don't give a rats ass if you call me or not, it is MY FREE TIME.

I was not happy to hear the condescending tone in coworker's voice, he knew it.  I am beyond ticked.

My VP (of my group) is in town next week.  She will be in the office on the 30th.  convenient.  May be layoffs.  I am fully expecting it.

Yeah, I am ticked.  I'm going to wallow tonight, get up in the morning and go for a 2.5 mile walk (at least) and start to work on ME.

Boys got their Barkbox this week. Dyson (who hurt his leg last week) is doing better.

[i112.photobucket.com image 800x600]

If you were in Europe, the comment would be "only three?" Americans can be so puritanical. Hubby is essentially a tea totaller. No tolerance for alcohol. (one drink and he is done)..so I have a higher tolerance..

That,s me... one 12oz beer and you can park me in a corner for about 24 hours....  and I work at a brewery...

What is bad...I had one glass of wine!  I live on the east coast.  It was dinner time, I had a glass of wine with dinner.  The guy was being a smart ass and his boss thought it was the truth.    I'm more pissed about the condescending tone I got from from the coworker.  'you know, K heard you had 3 glasses of wine, I'm not telling you to change your behavior'....riiiiight.  bite me.

Good morning, Caturday folks! Minding work right now, and it's been getting busier and busier, wanted to say hell, miss ya'll and let everyone know the kitties and I are doing great.

Barby has clean floors to puke on and TC a dining room table to sit on! Can't wait to get home to my buds so we can take an all day nap together before I go back to work tonight.

Here's a special one for QJ and Alien!

lilyspad:
Maybe we can get QJ, and Alien to show their cute little faces too???? :D

I'm here, I'm here.
It's been a busy day.
The momma unit celebrated her 88th birthday today.
I took her out for a late breakfast or early lunch (depending on your time zone).

She went with me yesterday to get her name added to the title of my van so that there
is some control on what happens with it in case I have some other health problem that
can't be solved with a bionic implant.

To do that, we both had to show office ID and they noticed that her drivers license would expire
today. In Indiana, DL's expire on your birthday and there's an extra fee if you don't renew it in time.

Well, that's no big deal, we're here at the BMV, she'll just renew it!
*bzzzzzttttt*

She couldn't pass the vision test. She hasn't driven since 2008 when her ophthalmologist told her to stop.
She's 100% blind in her left eye and +80% blind in her right eye.
They gave her like 5 different chances and she couldn't read any of the lines on the eye test.

"Sorry ma'am, we can't issue you another license. We can give you an ID card, though."

She's been moping around and periodically complaining about how she didn't think her eyesight
was so bad that they couldn't have given her a pass. It hasn't been pretty today.

Hopefully, my siblings will take her out running around for her birthday. That would give me
more time to participate in Caturday.

...and a cat-

[reneau.smugmug.com image 484x550]

Slightly different situation with my Mom... she had some kind of mini-stroke.. she said that she lost three hours somewhere.. luckily she was home..  called my sister when she realized there was a problem.. and made an instant decision to cease driving... Deb took her to DMV and they traded the DL for an ID card.. with the size of Mom,s support group, there were no problems.. she said that the possibility of that happening on the highway scared the hell out of her... happened once more at home, for five hours this time.. family doctor made the decision for her to move into an assisted living facility.. very nice place, and she knew most of the people there..  sooo glad we didn't have to make that decision... Mom was logical at all times... I attributed that to when we siblings were born, in Ithaca, NY.. our doctor,s name was Spock....1940,s......

Okay, so Emma's taken to basically finding the tightest space between my body and anything else to curl up and sleep.  She's also suddenly started to curl up next to me at night, and then basically started scooting me off the bed.  And then she stopped.  Strangely, her behavior is really inconsistent.  She just kind of does what she wants.

Something she's done over the last couple of days though has me a little worried.  She sometimes has her mouth slightly open with tongue sometimes stuck out a little.  I've read different things on the internet, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.
