I need that.  Three.  was a not so fun day today.

I had a call from a coworker in Seattle.  he tells me that he had dinner with the client and she commented about me.  Seems she heard that one of her employees was talking to me and he told her that 'she had 3 glasses of wine'.    well, excuse me.  I am AT HOME....it is my house, it is my free time, I will have a glass of wine on MY TIME.  I don't give a rats ass if you call me or not, it is MY FREE TIME.

I was not happy to hear the condescending tone in coworker's voice, he knew it.  I am beyond ticked.

My VP (of my group) is in town next week.  She will be in the office on the 30th.  convenient.  May be layoffs.  I am fully expecting it.

Yeah, I am ticked.  I'm going to wallow tonight, get up in the morning and go for a 2.5 mile walk (at least) and start to work on ME.

Boys got their Barkbox this week. Dyson (who hurt his leg last week) is doing better.

L33t Squirrel: ... as I wandered the aisles at the store within walking distance (luckily still open at that time at night) looking for neosporin and bandages. I must be a bit broken, because I giggled like a doofus the entire time...

I guess I must be broken too, since your story made me laugh like a loon. And reminded me of the time I was washing one of the ex's martini glasses and somehow the base snapped off and the stem of the glass lodged in the back of my hand ... and just stood there. The ex walked in and I turned to her and held out my hand like a butler and asked if she would like to try a bloody martini instead of a dirty one. I will never forget the look I got for that comment...still have a perfect circular scar from that.

syzygy whizz: RadicalEd: My little girl cat, Tola, is at the vet today for a dental cleaning. Apparently her little heart beat is racing though, and they're doing a thyroid test before continuing to put her under for the cleaning. She was so scared to go this morning, huddled as small as can be and yowling her head off. Hard to believe a six pound cat can be so loud! So now I'm just worried at work! Hope my baby girl is okay.

Riktor had his teeth cleaned last year...after all the stuff I've read here (and I THANK YOU for sharing it!), I figured we could head a LOT of health issues off at the pass by doing so.
They did blood work beforehand, just to make certain he could tolerate the sedation (he was 10 at the time)...he came through with flying colors. Forgave me the minute we got home, too.
You're doing a Good Thing for Tola...even if she has her doubts about it...

The company I used to work for would take the female employees out for lunch on Secretary Day.
(if you were a woman you were a secretary, not to sexist) It was a free lunch and all you could
drink. We would get to the Yacht Club about noon and have lunch and by 3:00 we were no longer able to drive by 5:00 we would call a taxi to get everyone home. The next day the boss would end up sending someone to pick up everybody for work because our cars were still in the parking lot. My sister always wanted to know why we couldn't get them to take us out for breakfast then we could have the whole day off.

A few of us from the office took a new colleague out for dinner. She was from Colorado and this was her first time out of the US. There were 8 for dinner so I ordered 3 bottles of red and 3 bottles of white for the table, enough so that no-one goes thirsty.

She *clutches pearls, sinks onto fainting couch* did a big number about how everyone in Europe is an alcoholic - way to make friends! Anyway, after a couple of glasses of Sauternes she told us all how she'd always had a thing for her sister's husband and she'd sent him nude selfies.

Unable to hold her drink, yes. Puritanical? Not do much.

RadicalEd: So it looks like Tola may have hyper thyroidism. We're sending her blood work out to get a definitive answer. I see pills are an option, but both of my cats hate their mouths being touched, and she's a bit skittish already. Has anyone done the surgery or radioactive iodine treatment, or know about them? I know its early yet, but more information never hurts from first hand experiences.

Radioactive iodine should be used only as a last resort. We looked into it for Meep since we thought she would be impossible to pill. The two vets we consulted were adamantly against it unless we exhausted all other avenues.

The primary reason is that once it's done there's no going back. Hyperthyroidism can mask renal issues, and if it turns out the cat has (or later develops) renal issues you can tweak the treatment to find the best balance between thyroid and kidney values. You can't do that once you've done RI.

Also, a small percentage turn out to be hypOthyroid due to incorrect dosing. Then you end up with a cat you need to pill anyway.

The best treatment is the pill if you can manage it. I have no experience with the cream. We never had to go there.  It turned out that we were able to hide Meep's meds in treats 90% of the time, and pilling her was much easier than we thought it would be.

Thanks, that's really good to know! She might eat disguised pills - we'll have to experiment. The problem with pills is being on schedule, and that's a bit hard for us to make mornings. If she doesn't eat it, can't catch her to force it down, there's 9-10 hours she goes without a pill. So that's more of what I'm worried about.

We won't know till next week and the more comprehensive test comes back. Right now, she's chowing down and trying to get some rest. Poor restless, loudmouth kitty. The girl in question:
