Does anyone have any recommendations for a good brown ale? Everything I've ever tried in this style has been reminiscent of water that's sat too long in rusty pipes with hints of Raid. I get that it might just "not be for me", but is it a style intended to offend the senses?

Ha! One of the redeeming qualities of the country I'm living/working in IS beer delivery! You call the bodega-like place down the street and in horribly broken Spanish tell them you need however many beers (Presidente is our go-to) you want, cigarettes, rum, milk, stuff like that you need, etc., and 5 minutes later a guy on an old, busted up scooter with a milk crate tied to the back comes rolling up with your order. It's AWESOME!

Dogfish's Indian Brown Ale is pretty good IMHO. But in general, I've also felt that the brown ale style never really manages to deliver on the promises it makes.

Depends where it is, I suppose.

Anything in Melbourne? I'll be down there in a couple weeks.

I forgot all about Nugget Nectar this year until it was much too late. I should subscribe to Troeg's newsletter now.

/Tomorrow, definitely

Not sure where you're located, so tough to make a recommendation.
My personal favorites are:

-Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale
-Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar
-Sixpoint Brownstone

Bought a case myself. It was gone in about a week and a half between just Miss WDS and myself.

I can't believe I missed Nugget Nectar this year, I better not tell the wife.

AAG, Sorry I don't know anything in Melbourne, or Australia in general.  I'm not sure there is good beer outside the US anymore (European beer all conforms to purity law, so it is pretty good but rarely excellent).

AleSmith has a good Brown

I'd say I'd love something like this in the area here, but it's small enough that following a few places on the book of faces is enough to know what's going on with tap take overs, and who has what on tap/specials.

I love Bellaire Brown.

And any excuse to go to Short's. And any excuse to get my ass in Torch Lake.

thanks, now maybe one could be posted about what's happening in the DC area, rather than Michigan.

/Port City put out a double IPA. Sweet baby Jesus.
//Take a field trip to Lost Rhino
///Dogfish Head continues to be the local powerhouse
////DC Brau can eat a bag of...hops.
