No, they will be forced to rehabilitate. There may be concentration involved, but that's all a big secret right now.

Good.  And "czar" is a media nickname.  They're too lazy/cheap to say/write "Director of the National Drug Control Policy" so they just say "drug czar"

Wow, so it only took four decades to determine the way we're waging the War on Drugs isn't cost effective?

I have no issue with sending junkies to rehab instead of prison for drug-related non-violent crime. However, the majority of the treatment centers in this country still use the AA/NA model which is utter pseudo-science.

Not to mention that it's highly unethical and unconstitutional to force someone to attend religious service against their will. AA/NA are highly religious organizations and any Friend of Bill who tells you otherwise is kidding themselves or kidding you.

As opposed to conservative who want to take away their welfare and food stamps and just let them die?

Honestly, how are they supposed to make any money if they can't ship a guy caught with a bag of weed off to a privately run prison?

Everyone has 15 chances to clean up. If by the 16th time you're detained again, you're off to Colorado!.

It's not a War on Drugs.  It is a War on Civil Liberties.

Just apply the argument that dullards without two dimes to rub together make when valiantly defending the wealthy from taxes.

"I might be a drug addict one day, and Obummer ain't puttin' me in no camp!"

So...the concept of Go, [get clean, rehabilitate] and Sin No More is now some kinda evil marxist oppressive thingy with jackboots on?

Nice going.

There are court-approved secular substance abuse support groups out there as well, but they may not have much of a presence in Jesus country.

Sadly, more often than not AA's the only game in town. Most in-patient facilities still use the Big Book and you can still be sentenced to mandatory AA/NA in family court cases (Go to AA or little Johnny goes to a foster home) or after a DUI.

For Socialism to work all nonproductive people must be placed in forced labor camps, otherwise everyone becomes nonproductive.

.... yeah, probably.

I like the part where they admit it doesn't make sense for small amounts of marijuana to put someone in the system and give them a record but then say "ah fark it we're going to keep doing it anyway".

2013-04-25 07:00:52 PM
I guess it's not prison, but...the key to ending a person's addiction is their willingness to quit. I can't see forced rehab to be that effective. How about you just stop arresting people for using drugs?

2013-04-25 07:00:57 PM
BTW this is pretty much what Nixon wanted to do, he wanted to expand drug treatment as a way to deal with drug addiction.

2013-04-25 07:01:14 PM
So how many people caught with a small amout of weed and sent for rehab will it take before it is reported BACK to the Gubmint that weed shouldn't be classified as a Schedule 1 drug?

It's immoral and counterproductive, but the money's good.

The right is to afraid of the law to find out what is actually in it, and the left is to apathetic to bother to look.

Hi! I can lick my own eyebrows: people caught with a small amout of weed and sent for rehab
