No he's been trying to pin it on the Saudi National that was in the hospital. This kid's been missing for about 40 days.

I'll repeat what I said yesterday:

It makes me want to cry.

I never even posted his picture and I advised others to shut the fark up about blaming him in the live threads. However I did post the pictures of two other guys while they were making rounds, but even when the media said that they were persons of interests, I should have refrained. So should have everyone. I didn't even call them suspects or persons of interests until the media did, I just said that these 'sleuths' seemed to make a good case about those two.

Never again. I was swooped in by what I thought was an incredible example of crowd-sourcing but turns out i was just a good ol' pitchfork and torches witch hunt where 'if it floats like a duck, it's a witch' was the threshold of credibility for proofs. farking never again. I'm so sorry and disgusted I ever linked to them in the first place.

/still makes me want to cry

You got caught in the same cycle as the rest of the Media, the desire to get there first overrides the desire to make sure your information is credible.

I get why this sort of thing would bother you but then again, this isn't even "this sort of thing". The kid was probably dead before his picture ever got published.

Or do you just want to cry because of how easily you found yourself swept up in and participating in a torrent of disinformation and bad detective work? I can understand that I suppose.

You aren't the only one who got swept up in it. I was following the police scanner and as soon as they mentioned Sunil's name I jumped on the bandwagon, only to wake up a few hours later and find out it was all bullshiat.

Shame is not an emotion I feel often, but I certainly felt it at that moment.

So dead suspects are automatically presumed natural with no chance of being wacked? I need to start a crime ring there.

The pain of the family is first and foremost what makes me want to cry. Being swept up in this makes me want to punch myself.

What I find really farked up is that the family had been looking for their son for a month then, and Reddit got on the case, called him a terrorist and enemy #1 of America, they ended up on the receiving end of death threats as well as having to deal with their missing son, and today they have to deal with burying him.

That family is going to be farked up for a long time now.

I was listening to the scanner and I still don't know where you people got Sunil's name as a suspect. I never heard such a thing, and there is no way the police ever would have named the suspect over unprotected airwaves like that.

That's why I repeatedly told people to shut the fark up about it in the live threads, seeing as the earlier pictures of the track athlete had also been debunked.

"As we carry indescribable grief, we also feel incredible gratitude," the Tripathi family said in a statement on a Facebook page set up to help find Tripathi, who went by Sunny. "To each one of you - from our hometown to many distant lands - we extend our thanks for the words of encouragement, for your thoughts, for your hands, for your prayers, and for the love you have so generously shared."

The family went on: "Take care of one another. Be gentle, be compassionate. Be open to letting someone in when it is you who is faltering. Lend your hand. We need it. The world needs it." Link

I ain't saying nothin', but you try to make a territory for yourself in Rhode Island and you'll end up in the same river.
Despite the endless amounts of corruption in Providence, it's become a pretty awesome city over the past decade or two.

Yeah I'm still calling bullshiat on that one, 130 pounds at 6? That sounds physically impossible for a healthy guy.

Subby; that's just want oBOMBa wants you to think.

Obviously, this CHILD was killed to cover up his involvement.

I one of the photos, I saw a woman with a backpack. Upon further investigation I realised she looked like an older version of a girl that disappeared twenty three years ago in mysterious circumstances.

They could be wrong about his weight; the pictures make me think more like 180. IIRC at some point a note was mentioned, and he was allegedly depressed? I could definitely see dropping some weight if that had been going on for a while...

I know a guy who is built like that. Totally healthy. I actually owe him one, because before he showed up, people made fun of me for being 5'9" and 140.

You'll have plenty of time for laying dead near a van down by the river, when you're laying dead near a van down by the river.

They published Lee Harvey Oswald's name as JFK's killer in New Zealand...
BEFORE the assassination happened!

2013-04-25 01:38:40 PM
Subby FAIL.

How do you figure he was dead before the bombings, if he was seen on the morning of April 16th? He may have been dead before the online mobbing took place, which would at least absolve those who partook in that exercise in douchery from causing his death.

But still, jeez, media accuracy (or lack of it) is the topic of the day. You could at least get your headline correct! RTFA next time.

Why isn't Drew talking about how Reddit didn't get credit for this ?
